    Hey!
I found the MyFitnessPal app to be super helpful for tracking my macros. Get the app if you don’t have it! Second, green veggies have a lot of carbs but don’t get hung up on going over your carb intake due to them... I’ve never heard of anyone gaining weight due to too much broccoli. Smiley smile

    Good luck!

I do two keto days (I carb cycle ... worth looking into!) - the low carb days are my favorite. Cobb salads have been my go to.

And make some fat bombs ... i've been too lazy to make them but every low carb day (like right now) I think to myself "why the hell didn't you make them"

I also found this website to be a great resource: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb

Stick with it, it works! I wasn't overweight but for my size, not happy. But I dropped 10 within 2-3 months and 5 around the wedding due to stress. Ta da!

I tried Keto for a month, and failed miserably as FH wasnt doing Keto and he hated me being on it since the suppers I made he "couldnt" eat. So needless to say I stopped keto to stop his whining...😂
    But for tips:
    1. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR CARB INTAKE. Whether that be on an app or on a piece of paper. Also treat your carb intake as a maximum. Dont try to consume 20 (or however many you get) carbs. Consume the least amount as possible.
    2. Treat your fat intake as a suggestion. You dont have to reach your fat goal. There is plenty if fat in your body for your body to burn instead of consuming more fat if your not hungry
    3. Treat your protien as a goal, but dont go over the goal too much. You need protein to keep your muscle mass, but too much protien and your body will convert it into carbs or fat or things you dont want.
4.dont eat If your not hungry
    5.white Cheese sticks saved me
    6. READ YOUR LABELS. You will be shocked at how much sugar and carbs are in everything
    7. SUGAR=CARBS. So things like stevia will save your life. But also watch for hidden carbs in certain brands.
    8. Net carbs. Carbs-fiber=net carbs.
    9. I bought ketosis pee strip things so I knew for sure when I was in ketosis
    10. DONT CHEAT! it takes DAYS to get into ketosis and the second you cheat it will throw you off ketosis and you have to wait more days to get back in
    11. BUY LOTS OF CHICKEN
    12. Pinterest is great for keto, low carb recipes, especially desserts!
    13. Fat bombs are not necessary.

I probably have alot more but I'm not sure what your looking for, so I'll leave it at that.

Ohh, and idk if you bought your dress already, but if you did, dont loose more than 2 dress sizes or they wont be able to take it in without losing the integrity of the dress!

    Good luck!

Hi there! I'm practicing Keto and really enjoy it!

What kind of tips and tricks are you looking for? I just got engaged, so I have not even thought about how to incorporate Keto into my desserts (main dish should be easier) but may splurge on my sweets since it would be my wedding day 😁

General tips: Don't be afraid of the carbs in some of the greener veggies since their nutrition benefits are great to keep in your diet!

Have snacks on hand for those sweet tooth or small hunger moments! Some frozen fat bombs are great and/or Duke's beef sticks (which usually only have 1g of carbs or less, just double check the package)!

Any more specific qs, let me know! Good luck!

I'm a keto mom. I've been at it for over 19 months. I've "only" lost 47 pounds so far but I lost 3 sizes and rocked my MOB dress at my daughter's wedding a couple weeks ago. I feel great and for someone my age I'm quite proud to say I'm not on any prescription meds! As for tips, just know that you'll get some push back from friends and family. I look at diets or in my case "way of eating" as a choice just like religion. There is no one answer and everyone gets to pick what works for them. My DH and I do keto together and we're quite happy with it. Best wishes!

I have a hard time following super strict diets, but I’m trying to be “Keto-ish”. I stopped eating bread and pasta. I’ve basically been eating fruits, veggies, eggs, some cheese, and grilled chicken. I don’t need to lose a ton of weight, but I would like to lose about 10 pounds total. I’m down about 3 lbs from when I started about 10 days ago so I’m happy! I initially started eating better cause my dress (that fit in Nov) is a little too tight and I freaked! I didn’t think I’d gained any weight. But honestly, I feel SO much better without all the carbs. I don’t get tired in the middle of the day like I used to, and overall I just feel healthier.

Intermittent fasting twice a week has really helped me and not eating anything after 8 pm. I lost 16 lbs in 1 month and 2 inches off my waist.

I just restarted keto last week after falling off the wagon while on vacation. I did it for 2 weeks before vacation and lost 10 pounds. After restarting last week I've already lost 6 pounds! You have to be committed for sure, but I actually find it a lot easier to stick to keto than I have other diets in the past. Counting calories has never worked for me, I need stricter guidelines to hold me accountable if that makes sense?

I prefer Carb Manager to My Fitness Pal for tracking everything.

My biggest advice is meal prep, meal prep, meal prep. Even if you don't want to dedicate a day to making meals for the week, have a calendar of what you're going to eat each day as far as meals go. It's hardest to stick to a stricter diet with you're doing it on the fly.

I've found all kinds of great Instagram accounts to follow and Pinterest has a TON of delicious recipes. Warning: you'll use SO much heavy cream and cream cheese, or at least I do! My Pinterest user name is bdbrooksie if you want to check out some of the recipes I have pinned Smiley smile

Definitely pay attention to labels/serving sizes and make sure you're looking at net carbs, just not carbs.

Fat bombs aren't necessary, but a lot of the recipes that I've used are dessert based and they hit the spot when I have a sweet craving.

Finally, Enlightened and/or Halo ice creams are a life saver! Some days a girl just needs some ice cream and there are several flavors that have are only a few net carbs per serving.

Hi! This is our 5th week on keto and we're SO happy we started! My short term goal was obviously to lose weight before the wedding (lost 10 lbs in the first 2-3 weeks!), but long term goals are to stay healthy and have more energy. A few things we've learned so far:

    - it's much easier than any other diet I've tried because we get to eat such yummy food, but you need to plan ahead to succeed. If you aren't committed and don't plan ahead, I imagine it can be overwhelming and you'll probably reach for unhealthy snacks and meals. I find meal prepping on Sunday for the week ahead is best, but it can be time consuming.

    - the keto flu is real. I tried so hard to not get it, but it still happened. Monday-Thursday was rough. By Friday, I was a whole new woman. Everyone is different though. FH barely had the "flu".

    - the Carb Manager app is out best friend! I tried My Fitness Pal a while back and really didn't like it. Carb Manager works better for us. You can create meal plans, generate shopping lists and track all your macros. They have lots of recipes too.

    - if you plan on working out while doing keto, know that your body time takes time to completely adapt to the diet, even if get into ketosis quickly. That first week at the gym sucked! I honestly thought I was going to keel over and die during my workouts. Stick with it, but give it a good 4-6 weeks before your workouts start feeling normal again. And don't over exert. Definitely read up on working out while on a keto diet (aerobic vs anaerobic, etc.). And once your in ketosis and your body has adapted, consider experimenting with a targeted or cyclical ketogenic diet (good info on that topic here: https://www.ruled.me/3-ketogenic-diets-skd-ckd-tkd/).

    - we LOVE KetoConnect! This couple started keto over 2 years ago and they have a website, cookbooks, blog, and a YouTube channel. They also have tons of recipes, meal prep plans and just so much info. They've been super helpful. Perfect Keto and ruled.me are also great websites, very informative.

    - ChocZero has some yummy chocolate options with healthy sweeteners like monk fruit. Not all sweeteners are equal, so read labels.

    - we have been pretty strict with our keto, but we also know we want to enjoy our wedding, honeymoon and the festivities that lead up to it. So, cheat days do happen for us from time to time. Just be smart with your cheats if you decide to incorporate them. If you're kicked out of ketosis, it can feel like the worst hangover of your life. Just ask my FH.

Good luck! Keto is such a fun adventure!

I lost 10 lbs earlier this year basically following this diet! I tried to keep my carbs to 40-50 per day and even cheated about once a week (oops). Still managed to lose the 10 lbs in about 4 months.

For me, eating low carb just means I get full on fewer calories. I tend to eat **** calories per day without trying. Summer has been rough for me (so much ice cream and beer!) but I'm going to get back on it after Labor Day.

OP, I basically live on riced cauliflower when I'm doing low carb. Use it as a base for stir fries and saucy dishes. A bunch of brands have it in the freezer section and it is so convenient. I also love sugar-free popsicles for when I want something sweet. Atkins bars and Quest bars are good for a quick breakfast or snack. Pork rinds satisfy the chip craving.

Hi ladies! I started doing keto in January for my wedding in June. Our wedding was rescheduled from last year due to COVID and I freaked out when I tried on my shower and rehearsal dinner dresses and they didn’t fit me anymore! I have lost 10 pounds already though in keto! My question is... if I eat carbs the day before and the day of the wedding, will that make me instantly bloat up or gain weight? Our rehearsal dinner is at an Italian restaurant (boomed pre-pandemic and pre-keto and it’s basically all carbs). I had also planned on doing Costco sandwiches and a hummus tray for the bridal party for lunch the day of the wedding. But I also don’t want to blow up and not look as great as I want to after working so hard for months! Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this!

    Hi Taylor!

I did keto before my wedding as well and had similar concerns as you, but I didn't notice any bloating day before/day of. That being said, I did try to stick with keto options as much as possible, so that may be why I didn't have any issues. For the rehearsal dinner, I did have steak, but it came with mashed potatoes, of which I did eat some. I also had dessert that night...it was my rehearsal dinner and I was definitely going to indulge. For the bridal party the day of, I asked my mom to make sure there were some keto friendly options, so we had deviled eggs, veggies with a dip, fruit and small sandwiches. I did have a couple small sandwiches. Bloating aside though, there are some people who feel really sick if they go off keto and eat something with a lot of carbs/sugar. So if you are effected by this, I would really try to stay away from anything with a lot of carbs. Luckily, that dessert at the rehearsal dinner didn't have any effect on me and I felt great on my wedding day. Good luck!

Thanks for the response! I’ll probably end up not staying strict keto during my bachelorette weekend so I guess that will be the test run to see what happens to me and how I feel!
