Any brides go the TOMS route?

Mrs. Nicole, on April 1, 2015 at 8:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

Okay, so. FH is 6'5", I'm 5'5". I am dreadful in heels. I've always been particular about wearing Toms as a bride, only because I love them in general. I went to a store yesterday and tried the strappy looking wedges and they were SO narrow (I don't have wide feet and fit regular toms just fine) and my pinky toe was poking out all weird.

But do any of you ladies plan to wear these, have these, worn these style of wedges? Were they comfortable? Did they cramp the toes?

And I guess in general, are wedges easier to walk in/be comfortable in than regular heels?

Picture is just an example, I might not get these exact ones, but they're more enclosed.

    My friend did the flat TOMS and she was happy she did that. Someone just told me yesterday that the fabric stretches after wearing them. So is that a possibility? Can you order them in a wide? I have wide feet, so I understand you frustration! I am a disaster in heels but I can do wedges no problem.

    I'm wearing their purple lace flats. I haven't worn the wedges before but they look comfortable!

    @pancakes, they do stretch out. I usually wear a 9 in shoes but always get 8 1/2 in Toms bc they do that

    @Taryn, so cute!!

    And I usually order an 8 when I'm an 8 and a half, so they might stretch. But I really don't have wide feet but the soles for the wedges were like..half as wide as the regular flat Toms when I tried them on at Nordstrom I was so confused haha.

    Likely I'll probably just tell FH sorry (he's the one that wants me a little taller because he doesn't want it to be awkward at our first dance/ceremony) and get the flats. They cost about half as much anyway.

    My fw (the other bride) is wearing custom converse! I'm probably going to wear boots. I need at least a 2" heel so I don't have to have my ball gown altered. My fw is only 5' I am 5'3".

    She doesn't want me wearing heels because I'm already taller than her, but I tried to convince her to wear boots... but it's a no go. Don't think she ever wore anything with heels.

    I am! I got the canvas with lace ones. I am only wearing them to work a few times a month to keep them clean.

    I have wide feet with high arches, they need to give a little.

    I have a couple of pairs of toms wedges and I love them. They do stretch a little but mine are super comfortable. I plan to wear the fancy high heels for as long as I can and then I'm switching to my toms wedges.

    @Kay, super cute!

    I have such a hard time with this haha. I usually have a problem picking just one pair of Toms in general anyway, but ugh. Regular canvas in one of my wedding colors, a glossy ivory pair, wedges, glitter pair, POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

    Also, if any of you ladies still need to buy one and use the iBotta rebate app, you get $10 when you spend $50 or more AND their website is doing free shipping for anything over $25 right now!

    I was thinking of doing toms like @Taryn for the reception- wearing nude heels for the ceremony.

    One of my BM's wore these for her wedding, and she was able to keep them on the whole night! She loved them and she recommended I wear them.

    I LIVE IN TOMS. They do stretch, but it takes a little while. I'd order up a size if you're not going to wear them out before the wedding.

    Sweet! I've always ordered size 8 in toms, so I guess it won't hurt. I'm trying to find any kind of closed wedge in a store (since so many people sell them now) to see how they would fit but not having any luck. I guess their return policy will allow for me to return them for free if I get an "in store" credit (which hell, I will always use) so it wouldn't hurt to just order and see!

    I wore a pair of gold sparkly TOMS. They were flats. I'm SO glad my feet didn't have to suffer the entire day. Nobody even noticed my shoes, so I'm glad I went for comfort over high fashion.

    I agree, Sarah. If I'm not comfortable in the wedges, I'm going in the flats similar to yours! I'd like to have some height to be a little bit closer to FH's height, but I'm not going to be crabby and whine about achy feet all night either haha. I just don't do well in heels.
