Hi, Ladies -
I feel like I am posting 24/7 today, but I have just scheduled my other wedding gown appointment!
I am going to be going to Swoon Bridal in Reno, NV. It is only about a couple hours drive away from me here in Sacramento and they carry Hayley Paige gowns (YESSSS) so it makes total sense to go here first. This appointment will be my official first, and is on Saturday, May 8th of 2021. My second gown appointment will be at JLM Boutique in West Hollywood later that month.
Here is the thing... I am going to be bringing my mom and my future MIL. I took a lot of your recommendations and decided to just invite my future MIL to my first gown appointment and I'll be going to my second gown appointment with my mom and best friend.
The reason why I decided this is because my future MIL can be a little...opinionated. She does it in a way where she thinks she's being helpful, but I find it to be a little abrasive. She flat out told me that long-sleeved gowns shouldn't be worn by me because of my tattoos on my arms and it will make the gown look too "busy"... well, I can't make the promise that I won't choose a long sleeved gown and I think if she were there for every gown experience (both appointments) and I try one on (the Indi or the Dalton, for example) that is long sleeved that I love, I will hear the backlash. I understand that she may make comments on my actual wedding day (ugh) but I feel like I will be having too much fun and enjoying my day to care.
So that means the month of May will be when I *hopefully* find my gown! I am so excited! I do hope that I made the right decision with my future MIL. She doesn't know about the second trip to LA yet, so I'm not quite sure how to navigate that. I simply said the trip to Swoon would make it easier for the 3 of us to travel there since we could do a day trip instead of something overnight (which would likely have to happen for the LA trip). I also know that many brides don't necessarily make a gown decision during their first appointment, so I have that on my side as well.
