Two nights ago, I went to dinner with my sister and her husband. They just found out that my brother-in-law is being deployed in March 2020 until January 2021 (our wedding is May 2020). I could tell he was upset about missing our wedding and I honestly had to hold back tears at the thought of it, but I didn't want to make him feel any worse. He's been a big brother to me for over ten years and even though FH isn't as close with him yet, he was also upset about it. We quickly decided that him missing our wedding was not an option, but we couldn't wait until after January 2021.
Yesterday I contacted all of our vendors, who were surprisingly all available for all three of the dates in February 2020 I've been considering. I'm relieved that this was something we could fix. I get to marry FH even sooner, my brother-in-law can be there, and I definitely plan on taking full advantage of winter wedding color schemes!
The only thing I'm bummed about is that we chose our venue because of all the huge open areas of green grass and lots of green trees around a pond. We definitely won't have snow down here, so I'm just concerned that all of our wedding photos will have dead grass and bare trees in the background and give it a dreary vibe. I was considering February 9th, but I think we'll end up going with February 23rd to give it a few more weeks to see if the greenery livens up a bit (it can easily be a high of 70 by the end of February in SC), not to mention avoiding sending out invitations during the holidays!
Just waiting for FH to wake up so I can text him to make sure he's okay with this specific date before finalizing anything with our vendors (again). Time to throw away all those Save the Dates I just ordered Oh the joys of wedding planning!
