Announcement About Rescheduling Wedding

Madelaine, on May 24, 2020 at 11:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28
Our daughter’s wedding was scheduled for September 2020 and now has been reschedule to 2021 due to COVID-19 and we need to notify our guests of the change. Anyone had to go through the same experience and had to announce a new date? If you did, would you be so kind on sharing your announcement or some one has some recommendations on how to announce the rescheduling of the wedding. Thank you for your help!! Wishing you all the best during this difficult time!

Most stationary websites (Vistaprint, Minted, Zazzle, etc) have postponement announcements with Covid verbiage right now.

I'd recommend looking at multiple "change of date" templates on stationary sites, and there are multiple forums posted on here where people have posted their wordings.

We picked a light hearted postponement card off Minted. They will be sent out right around when our invites would have been sent out. We aren't including a letter or anything - we think people will understand why we made the choice and of course feel gutted about the whole thing.

I purchased a digital, editable format on etsy and sent it to everyone on social. Saves money and informative

We had all of our guests email addresses because we did email STDs. We sent out physical invites in the mail just before stuff began to shut down because of Covid.

We made the decision to cancel our wedding about one month out, and I just emailed everyone to let them know that we made the decision to cancel due to safety concerns, and still hoped we could get married and celebrate with them in the future. We also created a Covid-19 section of our website with updates and announced the cancelation there.

We notified our wedding party and family via phone/text/etc, but I've also updated our wedding site and ordered (free!) updated invites with the new date, along with an extra postcard insert I created through Zazzle explaining the updated invite and our plan to have a small wedding this year and then re-create/celebrate with everyone next year.

This is what our postcard insert front/back looks like:

I'm making postcards on Vistaprint! You can edit them and they're super simple/cheap/easy to mail out to everyone.
