Seriously, I am SO upset. I had my first fitting after alterations yesterday and it went horrible. The dress didn't fit. At all. Seriously, I am SO upset. I had my first fitting after alterations yesterday and it went horrible. The dress didn't fit. At all. They had to take out the cups they put in for structure to get it to zip, and I couldn't breathe and it looked horrible. They added straps (more support for my boobs) and I disliked those too. There is nothing they can do to make the dress bigger....so my only option is to hit the gym hard and hope for the best. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress....don't get me wrong...but on me? Not so much. I should have ordered a size larger and now I think it's too late. Here's a pic of this tiny stupid dress that I love:

Like another bride said - the difference between a dress fitting or not is about 8 pounds - only 8 pounds. Do a 1,200 calorie diabetic diet for the rest of the summer and your dress will fit without question.

Well when 8 lbs is 6% of your body weight....it IS difficult. But yeah, I'm just going to work as hard as I can.

ETA: Duh. I can't math. I do not weigh 80lbs.

Ha ha, I would totally be marching in place!

On New Year's Eve, my best friend's husband challenged me to a fitbit steps challenge, and then he proceeded to go play racquetball. I couldn't let him win so I walked laps inside my house in between everything else I was doing all day. I never sat down once the whole day and I won. That was one exhausting day.

    You got this!!

My dress didnt fit at my first fitting either so I know the frustration. My dress fit perfectly when I ordered it... last August and was a little snug when it came in in April. But then my first fitting in June I had gained 10 pounds and it wouldn't close. Next fitting is next week and I'm trying so hard to lose weight-- I lost 4 pounds but the rest of the weight is being stubborn. I think I slimmed down a bit though so I'm hoping it'll fit! Good luck to you-- you can do it!

    Thank you M&M!

Raelyn - I am NOT firing on all cylinders today. Clearly. I weigh about 135 and I'm short. So I won't die if I lose weight....unlike if I weighed 80lbs. Haha.

Katy, for the bra, if you have the time drive to Vienna and visit Trousseau. They're very small independently owned lingerie shop. You could bring your dress with you and they could figure out the right bra. They ended up putting me into a 32H strapless that fits perfectly and is very lightly lined so as not to add any bulk to my boobies. My dress is BHLDN also, and not super structured in chest area, and this bra is perfect. Best of luck!

Wow, Lara! You're my hero! I will definitely do that! It's only 30 minutes from me! Do I need an appointment?

No appointment necessary! They're rarely crowded. If you have time on a weekday, I would suggest that. They're open on Saturday but closed on Sunday. Let me know how it goes!

I don't think it's you; That style of top just isn't very forgiving, unforetunately Smiley sad I think it even looks a little tight up top in the pic from a month ago. It doesn't sound like they gave you very good advice. I'm heavier on top and I don't think I would've been brave enough to try that style Lol But if I were you I'd work quick to try to find something else you can love... you want to be comfortable! Good luck

Katy if you gained the 3lbs quickly from stress eating, after going back to your normal routine you should lose it almost nearly as fast. There's still time! Have faith in yourself! and the dress gods lol

@Katy - Hoping the lingerie shop has a solution for you. If not, you got the losing weight thing. Just do what you can and drink lots of water. Also, absolutely in love with your dress.

Try not to stress! I went with my sister to her final dress fitting & her dress wouldn't zip up! Earlier that week we had gone out & indulged in a few beers & Nachos .... apparently salt does make you bloat!

A week later she went back (after avoiding anything that could lead to bloating) & her stress fit!

Have you tried fashion tape to support the top so you can ditch the straps? It typically works really well...

Your dress is so beautiful!! Hang in there!! We all know that you can do this, you have a few months before your big day, try to stay away from anything that will make you gain weight. You don't have to hit the gym, maybe you can walk more and just eat the right foods, don't think about it too much. When I think about watching what I eat it makes me hungrier so just cut out bad foods and replace them with low calorie ones. Good luck I know you will do it and look stunning on your wedding day!

I have fashion tape, but that is not enough for this situation. I think a good undergarment will help. They're also changing the straps for me. I don't mind them....I just didn't like the ones they used up close. I would rather not be pulling at my dress all evening. I'm feeling a little more confident after a couple of days of eating well and working out!

    Hi Katy!

I'm sorry to hear about your dress. It is beautiful! If the dress is too tight then another suggestion would be trying to make the back of the dress into a corset back. That way would would be able to adjust the tightness of it. Let us know if you have an other questions!

    All best,

That sounds super stressful, Katy, I'm sorry! I gain and lose weight really easily, so I'm pretty sure this will happen to me, too. You can totally get back to where you were a month ago, though! I've always found that power walking (about 4 miles per hour) is the most awesome fat burner ever, and it's super low impact. Plus it's enjoyable, and you can do it with friends.

I think if you're unhappy with the straps, they can definitely be improved upon! Did you ever consider a different style? I think straps that taper down would look beautiful. And I'm 100% pro Spanx! Your dress is gorgeous -- you've got plenty of time to get it to look the way you want it to on you. You can do it!
