Annnnnnd my dress doesn't fit.

Katy, on June 29, 2015 at 9:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 52

Seriously, I am SO upset. I had my first fitting after alterations yesterday and it went horrible. The dress didn't fit. At all. They had to take out the cups they put in for structure to get it to zip, and I couldn't breathe and it looked horrible. They added straps (more support for my boobs) and I disliked those too. There is nothing they can do to make the dress bigger....so my only option is to hit the gym hard and hope for the best. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress....don't get me wrong...but on me? Not so much. I should have ordered a size larger and now I think it's too late. Here's a pic of this tiny stupid dress that I love:

I've always pictured you as super tiny anyway-- that stinks. Good luck!

My boobs and dress are going to have a good time fighting it out. I still need to find a magical (read: strapless, low back, low cut, minimizer, 38DD) bra that will work. Sigh.

Did the alterations team make a mistake? There's really nothing they can do? You've posted your dress before and you look great. I know that's an awful feeling. But you've got this!

Your dress is beautiful! You can do it!

I'm sure you have a great tailor, but here is an idea. If you are getting the dress hemmed is there any way they can use that extra fabric to add bust darts and extra room in the bodice? If they add the wedges of fabric at the armpit it may not be noticeable at all.

You can do this!! A few of us are starting the 21 day fix today and are using each other as a buddy system. You are welcome to join us even if not doing the same program. It always helps to have a little accountability :-)

VMD - I tried on a size 8 at the bridal store and it was huge. They measured me and decided I was a size 4 and ordered it. I tried it on....it fit. It's been tight from the beginning but I keep being told that since it's strapless it should fit really snug. I must have gained like 3 lbs and now it doesn't zip (stressful week). I hate the dress with straps....it makes it look like a prom dress, but the top keeps slipping down without straps. And now I can't have the cups, so I have to find a bra that works (and will fit in the dress!).

I'm just so mad that in order for this dress to fit it seems that I have to be uncomfortable and ALSO lose 5-7lbs in the next 60 days. Which is insane because I am NOT heavy and I hate crash diets.

Futuremrslav - Lemme know if you find that magic bra.

Here is a pic of that time I fit in the dress, a month ago (with the straps and derp face):

ETA: I found the other pic that doesn't look so derpy and shows the front.

You totally got this. (This is my fear ... my first fitting coming up July 8th, last time I tried it on in March, it was fitting a little snug around the tummy and I didn't like the way the "skin" was hanging over the back of the strapless dress. I swore up and down I was going to diet and exercise consistently. I exercise consistently, I held up to that, but my diet has been erratic. Not good. The only way for me to lose the poundage: NO unhealthy carbs, occasional healthy carbs ok if you are putting in a lot of exercises, you need it for energy sometimes, lots of fiber, protein, fruits and veggies all in moderation. Healthy snacking. Protein and veg. Exercise cardio and light weights. I'm currently doing a Youtube (I swear I am like the youtube queen) Jillian Michaels HIIT video It is Awesome. It is supposed to be the fattest way to burn fat and see a difference in your body. I did Level 1 for 2 wks and today I am going to attempt Level 2. I have seen a difference in my body in 2 weeks. I am so excited to see what another 2 wks can do. You totally have the time to do this and look stunning in your dress!!! Start now though!! Make changes now. Not next week. Use your imagination to envision yourself in the dress looking stunning every time you want that bad snack or extra portion. Have a cup of herbal tea instead. (No sugar/milk). I find sipping on tea helps a lot. Edited to say you look amazing in the picture you just posted. You can get back to that againnnnn.

Http://zaggora.com/ has a full line of workout clothes that reduce inches quickly. Not weight, but inches. I know it's temporary and what not, but the shorts all go up high (even though the models don't show it) and they really work. They used to have a 2 inch in 30 minutes a day for 30 days guarantee. They got rid of it because women weren't hydrating while they worked out and it caused issues. I'll tell you though, I lost over 2 inches in 30 days. I wore them while I worked out, just hydrate! They have tops to slim your boobs down too. It may help!

That dress is so so so pretty. Is there ANY way that they would exchange it for a 6? It seems like this sizing issue is their fault since they suggested the size 4 instead of 6.

I actually really like the straps. I can't wear a bra with my dress either, but with the boning and the cups, I really don't see me going anywhere...and I'm a little top-heavy as well. ;-)

Well now the dress has been altered, so I doubt they will exchange it. And the 6 might be a little big.

I have a physical disability ya'll.....so exercise is hard for me. But I'm doing everything I can in the gym EVERY freaking day.

Also, I'm vegan & gluten free and eat very little carbs. I'm just need to eat less and cut out any junk. I think I was stress-eating during final week which led to gaining and bloat.

ALSO, I need a really great bra/spanx system.

I hope it will work out. I have another fitting on Sunday....so if it zips I'll feel better. I'm going to try to get a good bra before then. When I've tried it on previously, I've counted on not wearing a bra since they were going to add cups.

Don't worry about exercising if you can't, diet is more important. Eat lots of fruit, veggies and lean proteins. Minimize dairy and processed grains. When you have grains make sure they are whole grains. LOTS of water, I'm talking 3 liters a day. Also, I recommend a Branch Chain Amino Acid supplement. It feeds the muscles while you are cutting calories so that your body doesn't start pulling energy from your muscles. You need more muscles to lose weight so don't want them your body metabolizing them. You can get BCAAs at most grocery stores in the supplement aisle. If not message me and we can talk. I followed this and lost about 18 lbs in 24 days when I first started my weight loss. I had a lot to lose, but even some very for girls I knew lost about 10 pounds over the course of the 24 days.

DATE TWIN! I am terrified I am going to have the same issues as you. I have really bad arthritis - exercise is difficult for me too so I am right there with you. I'm about to cut out carbs and be that person who carries around a gallon bottle of water around with them. You can do it, trust me! Plus if you had a stressful week and gained a little weight, that will go away quickly and you never know...you could go back Sunday and it might look perfect.

Thanks ladies! I will look into those BCAA supplements. I think lots of water and less carbs is the way to go. I've had great success with vegan protein shakes in the past too. Drinking water as we speak too!

I CAN exercise, but I have to be careful what I do. It's mostly elliptical, bike, walking, and planks/core...nothing too intense or hard on the joints.

Yay date twin!! You got this too!!

Your dress is beautiful. If the difference between fitting and not fitting in it is 5-7 lbs, and you are already pretty carb free, then definitely drink tons of water. And walk as much as you can. You can do it!!
