Amazon or etsy wedding bands?

FutureMrsAF, on June 17, 2017 at 4:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 29

Has anyone gotten their wedding bands off of Amazon or etsy?

I'm looking into online shopping as there is definitely a wider variety to choose from and most are cheaper than retail, though I'm concerned about the lack of warranty and potential poor craftsmanship as I've heard some negatives about ordering jewelry online.

If you've ordered online let me know shops/warranties/how your ring is holding up!

Thanks all.

PS, please feel free to share photos! I love me some ring porn Smiley smile

Personally-I would use Amazon. I don't have anything against Etsy at all. Etsy is small business which is great for some things. Amazon offers ties to small and large business along with more reviews and more return availability (in my experience) One of my future in-laws has a wedding set from Amazon and have heard nothing negative, not to mention it's absolutely gorgeous!!!! My engagement ring was also purchased online (finejewelers.com) (complete with lifetime warranty and replacement guarantee) and I have no negative comments to make.

I got mine from etsy and h's from amazon. We both wanted something very simple though since H doesn't wear his band often and I like the old school band look. This is my band and store. My band was hand brushed but aside from that, this was it.

@FB99, I'm trying to remember when I posted about a halo engagement ring.... hmm, maybe it was someone else? My FH and I did just decide to reset my grandma's engagement ring though! Not sure what it'll look like yet, we went and I picked 3 settings and then he chose his favorite while I was out of the room so it would still be somewhat of a surprise Smiley smile

@goldfisch, I've heard great things about etsy! Not so much Amazon (lots of stones falling out after a month, no warranty etc)

We got both our wedding bands from Etsy and love them. The only risky thing for us was ordering the correct size, since they were "comfort fit" and I know that you're supposed to size down for that. So we just made sure not to get them engraved (even if it was free) until we could get them and make sure they fit, since you can't return or exchange customized pieces.

@fb99, okay I rememberSmiley smile yep, that's what we were doing with my grandma's ring. I picked one halo and then two different style solitaire pave settings, I should have it this coming week! The suspense of not knowing which one it is is killing me.

Mine is from the same local jeweler that we bought my engagement ring from. We bought his at a place in Boston that does custom titanium bands for a really reasonable price. They have a physical location but do most of their business online. The website is minterandrichterdesigns.com. We live close enough that we made an overnight trip to visit and they were wonderful.

Some of my friends who live in Boston got theirs there too and they are holding up great, and come with a pretty good warranty, and one you can pay extra for that will replace it even if it is lost. The one that comes with it will also resize it for free by replacing it.

Oddly enough once I was trying them on the halos just weren't really doing it for me, but they had a ton of options under that $1500 mark which was a surprise

My e-ring is from Etsy and it's perfect. FH's band is also from Etsy, and I'll probably end up getting mine there as well. Just be sure to read plenty of reviews and choose a shop with a good return policy

I actually have the exact opposite opinion from Jessica: I would happily use Etsy (and I did!) but I wouldn't trust Amazon for important jewelry like this. Amazon aggregates listings for the same product regardless of who is actually selling it, so it's almost impossible to tell if others' reviews are referring to the actual product you will get from whichever seller you buy from. I love Amazon and I do a ton of shopping on there, but if it's a product that has any concerns of being counterfeit then I shy away.

I got FH's band from an Etsy seller called EJ Collections. He has a shop in LA, and his Etsy rating is a perfect 5 stars with 377 reviews. FH's ring is exactly what he wanted--it was a custom order--and it wound up appraising for over twice what I paid for it.

My FH bought my band and engagement ring off of Etsy from the shop "minimalVS" and they are incredible. They appraised for even more than he paid for them (almost 1.5k higher). He said she was very quick in response and all of her stuff is very beautiful! But I am a minimalist when it comes to jewelry. Good luck!

My band is rose gold with a champagne diamond and the band is white gold with white diamonds and I am so happy he picked mixed metals!!! I have my band in my old phone sorry!

Both of my rings and FH's ring are from Etsy, made by TheresaPytell. We loved her work so much! Every ring is custom and they're done in 3-5 days. Shipping from Colorado took 3 days. She also does free resizing as well. Everything is amazing quality and very cheap! My set was under $500 for both, and FH's ring was around $175. They are both white gold, and my engagement ring is aquamarine. Mine is super dainty in person and I love it!

I got my band off Etsy. Only $49 (very thin and simple). Store had good reviews, so I went for it. It's holding up beautifully, totally happy I got this one.

I just bought my band from etsy. The seller was roseandchoc and I absolutely love my band. It is everything I wanted. It's 14K rose gold but the diamonds aren't real which was fine with me! Looking to get FHs band off etsy as well.

The fiancé just got his wedding band from this Etsy shop, and we're very impressed: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GrandJunctionGuy. I think my engagement ring came from an Etsy shop also, and it's lovely! Just be sure to check reviews and be sure of the correct sizing before purchasing.

Etsy - my fhs ring. I feel like it's a little too big for him but he says he loves it

We are buying ours from an Etsy seller. He has been amazing to work with and is dealing with all of minor adjustments with aplomb. I love the work he has done so far but I only have the sterling silver casts. My seller offers a trial (in sterling silver) so you can modify as necessary before casting in your final metal. I love the sterling silver versions and the trial helped me see some minor changes I needed to make. I have just confirmed our final order with him and we won't get them for a few months due to my wedding date so I can't speak to longevity. Meanwhile his responsiveness, customization, and willingness to work with me on price have been top notch.

We are keeping the trials rather than returning them for credit so we can have them for travel, yard work, etc.

    ETA: Seller is Nathanjewelers

We also ordered matching bands from JVL just because they were free and they actually are pretty good rings.

    https://www.jvljewelry.com

use code: "2free" and the bands are free but they do charge a $25 shipping fee per ring.
