Am i the odd one?

June2020, on October 24, 2019 at 1:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 56

Was talking with husband to be about wedding dresses and the types he likes , he said all the ones I picked were nice then continued with does it matter you'll be changing anyway... I said changing????? Im not changing why would i change???? He said your supposed too and i guess he is expecting me too..

I have never been to a wedding where the bride changed out of her wedding dress and into street clothes.. except for his mom who just had a backyard wedding... am i the odd one? I though it was normal to wear your dress the whole time or another "reception dress" which is very similar to the wedding dress maybe just more movable.

I am wearing my dress as long as I can!! I did not just spend $X and stress over it just to change! You are not alone!

I wore my dress the whole time and have never been to a wedding where the bride changed for any part of the day (and i've been to LOTS of weddings).

Not saying you can't if you want to - just not common in my experience.

I've been to 12 weddings (ish) and never seen the bride change. I didn't change. I wasn't about to spend $2,500 on a dress then change hahaha! Plus I felt beautiful & bridal & the dress was comfortable enough to wear while dancing.

Not changing into another dress maybe if I had the money and means I would but nope my mom is paying for my dress and that would be selfish of me asking her to spend 💳 for another dress.

I literally broke down the cost of my dress x the maximum amount of hours I could keep it on to get a cost per hour for wearing it. I had it on for about 12 hours so I was like ok that’s like $116 an hour to wear this dress 😂 was dead set on making that as cost effective as possible.

It’s definitely more common to just have one dress. The reception dress change is a newer trend. I’m just wearing one dress for the ceremony and reception.

Changing in to a “reception dress” is a new thing now but after spending a lot of money on a wedding dress most brides don’t change. You cbs do whatever makes you happy.

The only time I've seen a bride change into "street clothes" was when they were going to bars for and afterparty AFTER the reception. And she wore a little white dress

I worn my wedding dress for the ceremony and reception. I changed into a short white wedding dress for the after party which was at a bar. I didn't want to wear my beautiful ballgown to a bar. I think it is strange he expects you to change. Some bride's choose to have a different dress for the reception, but that is completely your choice. I originally wanted to wear a different dress for the reception, but I loved my dress so much I choose not to. I also had no idea when I was going to change because I wanted to wear my dress for my first dance then change into a different and that would have been too complicated so that was another reason I choose not to.

I’ve gone to about 5 weddings a year for the past 7 or 8 years and I’ve never seen a bride change.

I've never seen a bride change out of her dress, not even into a reception dress.

I wore my dress until my husband took it off me when we got home that night! I know some women find them really heavy and cumbersome so that's why they remove it but mine was pretty easy to move in.

I have never see this in person before. I think once on an episode of Four Weddings, I saw someone change into jeans and a tank top. But personally I want to wear my dress as long as possible.

He’s probably just assuming it’s done this way because he’s basing his expectation on his mom who is probably the person who’s talked about her wedding most with him lol. You’re not the odd one I’ve never seen a bride change out of her dress!

We wore our dresses for the ceremony, the luncheon following the ceremony, and the at-home reception three days later.

We did not change. I spent a lot of money on my dream dress and did not want to take it off! I wore it for as long as possible. I have also never been to a wedding where the bride changed.

It's definitely normal to wear your dress the entire day! I've never known anyone to change into street clothes, or a reception dress/jumpsuit. It would be so odd to change too!!!
