Am i planning too fast?

Shawnee, on July 28, 2018 at 7:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
My fiancé and I have been engaged for about a month and paying for everything ourselves. In order to plan for a budget we needed to window shop around and what prices usually run. We now have a venue in mind, my dress and some ideas for centerpieces. We went out and bought two of my bridesmaids dresses today because my bridal shop was having 50% off clearance items. One of my other bridesmaids came to me saying I'm planning too fast and going to regret it.
Am I planning it too quick? Will I regret it? I just don't want to put it off and the. Be stressing over money.

I dont think you are. Early is always better. If you are a person who changes your mind you may have a change of heart, however keep your receipts. You can always sale things you dont need online, at a bridal expo, thift shop, yard sales

I would book your venue ASAP so the other pieces can begin to fall in place. It could be difficult to get a lot of things done without a definitive date and venue. And your choices could be difficult depending on your venue too. You're probably not going to want to wear a boho style dress at a ballroom.

I've been planning early too. It's been giving me peace of mind because I know no matter what I'm going to be a giant ball of stress as the wedding gets closer!

I think it's so much more calming getting it done like this. If anything goes wrong there's time for fixing and to get everything together at a decent pace.

Definitely not! It's never too early 🙂 I got engaged this January and we literally started planning the day after and we've had wedding talks prior to so we already began getting ideas until it was time to really make concrete decisions. I bought my dress in March, I got my shoes in April, I found a hair and makeup salon, a venue and the girls shoes and dresses all around that same time as well. I already bought our invitations, we ordered our cake last weekend, I ordered out save the dates this past week, I have my veil. It's less stressful and you have better control. It gives you time to think and handle other things that have to wait such as a setup with the venue, a run down of your day, etc.

I planned early for my wedding and didn't regret it. Ee already had a vision and it saved us money because we purchased things over time. A lot of stuff was on clearance. Ee got married this past May but had been making purchases since 2016 and got engaged in November 2015. I'm so glad we did it that way. We saved all stuff and put in bins until we were ready for it.

We started booking our vendors about 16 months before the wedding, so no, I don't think it's too early. We had everything booked by 13 months out. There are enough small details that planning early has helped because it's just less to worry about.

I got engaged in March of this year, getting married in August of next year, and already have my TWO dresses 😜 and everything booked except the cake, which is technically booked but I have to wait until next spring to schedule the appointment and let them know which venue I'm with since it's a partnership and included. Bridesmaids dresses have been picked but not ordered, and I'm making my veil. Only thing I haven't done is finish designing my invitational suite and printing/mailing, which I'll do later this year and mail them out next spring. Hey it done early so you can shop around and change your mind with time to spare if needed

I agree you are not planning too fast. We are getting married on 10-05-2019 and when we went to book our venue last month the original date we wanted was taken we changed it to the 5th because we love the venue. So I firmly believe in the sooner the better

I booked my venue 2 years out and got a special discount for doing so. I'm also able to take longer with dress alterations and plan them around trips I was already taking to my parents (because the only seamstress I trust with an antique dress lives in their town). And I can collect seasonal stuff on sale and get tickets to an annual event at our venue that decorates very similarly to what we want so we can get ideas on how to make it work.

No you are not planning too fast. DO you have your venue booked? Some people may feel that way but they are not in your pockets nor in charge of your budget-and dont let them be. This is between you and your FS. You may want to pay down things monthly, you may want to do it lump sum ,however you see fit. I plan on walking down the aisle debt free come May 2019 so I agree and if I'd seen dresses that I liked in the right size/color, I would have bought them as well.
