Am I going to regret telling my groomsmen to wear khaki pants and a white shirt of their own?

Heather, on September 24, 2014 at 7:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Do I need to tell them to all get the same exact shirt and pants? Are they going to look mismatched? It is a beach wedding and they are all different shapes and sizes. Did any of you ladies tell your groomsmen this?

I wanted mine to do that… my husband wanted tuxes, which were a little out of place on a beach, but whatever.

I'd have them wear the same pants and shirts, though, because of color differences.

I think if you make sure to tell them that you want button down or long or short sleeve shirts you should be ok. I like the mismatched look and for a beach wedding it will look fine if their khaki's aren't all the exact same shade. I would just make sure that nobody wears a white t-shirt (unless you want that look). Besides, if people are paying too much attention to the color of the groomsmens pants, then they're focusing on the wrong thing. They should all be looking at you and your new husband!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. When my BIL got married, the guys all wore jeans, a white button down shirt, and matching ties. They looked fine even though the denim didn't perfectly Match.

It depends on if you actually want them to look the same or not. the intentional mismatch might look good for a beach theme. but i feel like there are tons of different shades of khaki so you may need to be specific if you want them to look similar.

For me, I didn't care whether they matched or not. If I could have, I would have vetoed the BM's off-white shirt but I didn't know until he showed up. LOL

If you want specifics. I would be hand holding and telling them what you want, heck I would be going shopping with them, but I know how guys can be and i tend to lean towards the side of caution.

You are asking for some serious mismatched men! The fact that you had to ask means you know what might happen. Smiley smile

Khakis are not uniform across. Some are darker, some are lighter. If you want them to look the same, you need to be specific with which khakis they need to wear.

Artistically, I prefer non-matchy-matchy. Plus, it gives your bridal party the opportunity to find something THEY like and are comfortable in, and will wear again, as we are all different body shapes.

We asked out groomsmen to wear any white shirt/black shoes, and we found gray pants and vests at Macy's. We provided them links to order online, or they could obviously pick up the items at the store. It worked perfectly.
