So let me start with I absolutely am not an amateur at this lol. I bake as a side business and have made a few wedding cakes. My fiancé wants me to make it because while he’s not a sweets fan he loves my cakes and also knows how picky I can be and that I won’t be satisfied with someone else doing it. But ... as it gets closer and closer I’m wondering if I’m just adding more stress! With it being 2 weeks away I guess I really can’t change my mind now lol.

So show me your cakes! I’m doing a naked cake because I absolutely love the look, I don’t love frosting and I’ve had so much success with them. Here’s a picture of one I’ve done before, that’s me & my brother with it. It was his best friends wedding.

The cake is definitely beautiful. Perhaps to make it easier on yourself, you could make the cakes in advance and freeze them, so all you have to do later is assemble and decorate. I would also consider waiting a little longer to put them on the cooling rack or just flip them out of the pan onto a plate to avoid the grid pattern on the top of each tier.

I don't think you're crazy. I wish I could make my own!! Here is mine, but with more purple flowers than the pink

Yeah it was my first one...so live and learn but it’s still my favorite so I use these pics a lot!

I olan on baking the friday before and freezing but i much prefer making frosting as I’m using it. So I’ll do that Friday morning and then refrigerate till Saturday. The key to keeping it moist is applying and reapplying simple syrup.

Aww so pretty! I wish I were able to bake my own but I do have a few friends who have gotten married that has baked their own. But I love the naked cake look!

Yes, exactly what I was going to say.
Although, I will admit that I hadn't noticed the grid marks until Caytlyn pointed them out!! But I can sympathize, as I bake a lot myself, and most of my cakes end up looking like that (before I frost them), because that's what happens when you put a just-out-of-the-oven cake onto a cooling rack! lol

Since you’ve actually made wedding cakes before it’s not crazy at all. Just make sure you baste your cake(lol like a turkey) with simple syrup because naked cakes dry out faster without that protective layer of frosting.
This is the inspiration pic I gave my baker! We changed a few things but it’s still going to be loaded with sugar flowers. ❤️

Not crazy at all!!! I’m a baker as well and located in northern VA and I am making and checking my wedding cake as baggage to our destination wedding in Hawaii! Yay for cake safes haha!
