Am I being selfish with a Friday wedding?

We picked a Friday date and I'm starting to get worried that we're being selfish. There are so many people that will have to take time off of work to attend! Do we switch it to Saturday?! Is this normal?!? Any suggestions from Friday brides?!

We're doing Friday too. I'm not that worried, worse case people may miss the ceremony for work then come to the reception

We have a Friday wedding and no one has complained about it at all. In fact people are saying it's "a good excuse to take a day off of work". I am also with @fallinthegarden, we have not saved money doing a Friday wedding it was strictly because of venue availability

ETA: FutureMrsT I am not asking anyone to take off of work, if they want to, they can. And FYI, some people don't throw Friday weddings to save money, it just happens to be what the venue has available. I won't push my wedding further out because the venue does not have a Saturday. Fridays and Sundays have become almost as popular as Saturdays.

I don't like Friday weddings. We are invited to a Friday wedding next spring that is OOT and I honestly don't want to go simply because it's a Friday and I think kinda rude. Not only do we have to pay for plane tickets, hotel, gift, and probably a new dress but we also both have to miss a day of work. If majority of your guests are in town i guess it's not as big of a deal. But you should expect a much higher decline rate for a friday

We are having a Friday wedding too, and some people have been happy that it's on a Friday. They said it will start their weekend off right. We aren't starting our ceremony until 5:30 or 6, and will understand if people don't show up until the cocktail hour/reception. (We are doing it all in one location.)

I'm also having a Friday wedding. Don't feel selfish. Those who are supposed to be there will come.

I noticed most of the responses that are advocating for Friday weddings are doing so because they planned their wedding for a Friday. Hmmm...

I am not a fan of Friday weddings at all. I have to either take time off of work or because I live in a big city, sit through nightmare traffic to get anywhere. I am always very exhausted by the time Friday rolls around and prefer to rest on Friday evenings. I will only attend Friday weddings for very close friends or family members. But I do agree with a PP who said better than a Sunday wedding.

Obviously, Saturday weddings are ideal, but if your budget /schedule works better for Friday then go for it. Fridays are better than a Sunday wedding in my opinion. We chose a Friday because it was cheaper than a Saturday. I would have loved to have a Saturday wedding, but it wasn't in my budget. I just started my RSVP process and have a few declines, but mostly from OOS family.

My sister had a Friday wedding last August and the majority of her guest list attended. I went to a friend's Sunday wedding and everyone rushed out after the cake cutting. I didn't want that for my wedding.

I'm doing a Friday wedding and we revived more than half of our RSVPs back already which is about 35 and only two declines so it depends on your crowd

No way!!! I'm saving $25,000 by doing a Sunday wedding at my venue. We are going to able to have a much nicer wedding than if we were to do it on a Saturday at a cheaper venue.
