Alternatives to "Here comes the bride"

Chelsea, on June 28, 2011 at 10:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

Me and my fiance arent really traditional so walking down the aisle to "here comes the bride" really doesn't sit well with me. Does anyone have any suggestions to an alternative?

The guys and girls walked in to Marry Me by Train and I walked in to "Daddy" which is by Kendal Payne but my sister and I recorded it before the wedding as a gift/surprise for my dad.

Like you, i wasn't trying to walk down the aisle to such a traditional song.

check out the songs link at the top of the ww page for some ideas. that's what i did to get me thinking.

i ended up picking an r&b song that i really like and it fit for a wedding. we had a friend of ours sing it

are there any songs that you like that make you think of your fh? that might be another place to start.

Somewhere over the rainbow (the ukelele/hawaiian version). Its what my cousin did last month so I will not be doing it but I am thinking I want to walk down to "Cannon D" (I think that's the name of it... its a piano song)

My girls and I will be walking down the aisle to an orchestral version of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" (at the big rockin' swell of the song, that's when my entrance happens) -- took me a long time to find something, but I took Hayley's advice and started thinking about music we enjoy together and working from there.

Now I'm trying to decide what song will be our recessional (leaving the ceremony together and everyone following us back up the aisle), b/c, even though I don't mind classical music, the old stand-bys and fanfares traditionally played at weddings just aren't us.

Have fun with this! It's kind of cool trying to come up with something unique that speaks to you as a couple and will be so perfect on your big day! :-)

My dj was my uncle and I picked a classical something or other for my wedding party and Cannon In D for me instead of here comes the bride. But apparently somehow the wedding party song was switched to Marry me by Train which was really nice. Its not what I picked but it was nice. I still walked into Cannon in D because I think its a beautiful classical song.
