Stasha, on June 25, 2012 at 2:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I love the newlywed kissing segment - however - I am looking for something a little bit different -

What are you doing??

Ugh, i'm banning it, that's what i'm doing. my family is infamous for doing it non-stop. BUT! i have seem people get little bells to ring instead of clinking glasses. so that might be a cute alternative for you Smiley smile

Wands with bells or tic tack shakers are a good alternative!! We are using wishing wands!!

I actually didn't mind the clinking. Fortunately, it was only done 3 times. I guess old tarts don't like the sound. : )

We're getting married and having the reception at a golf course so FH wants to do the if you putt it into the hole we kiss. Although I wanted to do something else its called "Being taught how to kiss" You write down every couples name that is attending your wedding into a bowl and every 15mins/20mins however long you want get the MC to draw a name, and the couple that is drawn has to "Teach the B&G how to kiss" so if the man dips the woman and kisses her, FH has to dip you, if the couple kisses upside down, we copy. It gets the guests involved as well, which i love. I've read it can be a LOT of fun if people get into it which we're hoping they'll do. So we're trying to decide if we should do both, or pick one.

    We had two ideas going.

The first: When H was a child he loved playing with Legos, so seeing as his parents still had the Legos, we had a bin at the back of the room and guests had to make something with the Lego and we kissed. It was fun for the kids and even the adults. We had some amazing pieces - rocket ships, hearts, motorcycles, random crazy pieces made by the younger kids. We were standing up and kissing most of the night!

We figured the older adults would not be interested in playing with Legos so we had a box at our sweetheart table and we accepted donations to a charity of our choice and we doubled any funds donated. We gave $400 to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

I love it - I think we are going to do some trivia about us. When we met, our cats name, my favorite color. If they get it right, we copy their kiss - if they get it wrong....I don't know - I'm spitballing Smiley smile

    It's a process....

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the help!!

Everyone's ideas on here were great! I saw a post on another site where the people sang a kareoke song to the couple and then the couple would kiss...I thought it was so funny, my family is goofy enough to do that! lol

Haha! That's clever too! I was at a wedding over the weekend where the table had to stand up and mimmick animal sounds so that they would kiss - it was kinda cute - but annoying by the end of dinner.

I was concerned about the clinking of the glasses and was going to instrument a different thing instead but completely just ran out of time so I decided to cut it from my list. The only time our guests clinked their glasses was in the beginning of the reception, after that it stopped so I was pretty happy! They didn't even do it more than 3 times while we were eating. I think it honestly depends on your guests.

I went to a wedding a few years ago, that instead of clinking the glasses, the person/persons wanting the couple to kiss, would have to stand up and sing a song with the word LOVE or KISS in it. I thought it was super cute and all the guests had a blast doing it.

We're doing basically the same thing as @Nikki B. When our guests go to walk into the ballroom, my Cousin and FH's cousins will have all the couple write their names on a piece of paper that is dropped into a fish bowl. Then when they start clinking glasses, the DJ will pull one of the slips out and that couple has to kiss first. We're going to rig it so the first few couples are are parents Smiley smile
