Alternatives to clinking the glasses for kisses

Mrs. Lauzon, on April 10, 2011 at 9:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a fun alternative to clinking the glasses for kisses at the reception. Nothing too cheesy or involving large props. I guess I'm being kinda picky cause I can't find anything I like. Ideas?

    Saw this little thing....

    Hershey's Kisses Kissing Game

Please no tinkling of glasses or bells rung out loud,

We'd prefer something different from this lovely crowd.

We've filled a box with Hershey chocolates and set it aside

Near the Head Table at which sit the Groom and the Bride.

If it's a kiss that you're after come forward and stand,

Now roll up your sleeve and dig in with your hand.

Reach down deep and retrieve a Kiss of GOLD,

A smooch between the Bride and Groom you'll behold.

But if you pull out a SILVER Kiss in your quest,

Then you'll be required to kiss another guest!

LOL I love this!! I've been trying to think of something too. I've been leaning towards bells but I love this little poem.

We decided to use little bells- they are called elephant bells. They don't have a loud sound but when you add 6 together they have a very soft pretty sound. Attached to it on one side is their table sitting and on the backside we found a saying we liked that goes with kissing and bells. For us the sound is softer than the sound of the glasses.

We had bells and it was redonculous. One of my bms let her son have the bell... one of the gm kept ringing the bell if we tried to bite something. So we didn't eat and we thretened to ground our children until they were 30 if they ever touched another bell...

I've heard of having the guests pull a question out of a box. If they answer a question (about the bride and/or groom) correctly, the couple would kiss. This helps everyone learn a little more about the couple.

Thanks Millie! Ran this idea by FH and we love it. This is what we are going to do.

Great ideas with the questions and Hershey's Kisses! I've been to two weddings where if you want them to kiss you have to come up and demo a kiss for the couple. That worked pretty well so that everyone got to eat too.

You could like not do it. We didn't and no one seemed to mind. Besides, after a few kisses it becomes an annoyance!

But if you want to you could do Kisses for Charity. Either the best man or the maid of honor may announce that instead of clinking glasses, a guest must sing a love song to bid for a wedding kiss. The bridal couple may have all the names of the wedding party written on individual cards, and placed in the bride's wedding purse. After the song, the guest may buy a kiss from a member of the wedding party, by pulling a name card from the purse. The wedding party member whose name gets pulled may give the guest a kiss on the cheek. The guest pays for the kiss with a dollar donated to the couple's favorite charity. On the back of each wedding member's name card, is also listed a monetary amount from $1 to $100. The guest may also choose to pay the dollar amount listed on the back of the wedding party member's name card to contribute to the charity.

The guest with the highest dollar amount contributed to the charity is the winner. The bridal couple and highest contributor may also pose together with the bridal charity purse, in a gift photo presented to the winning guest.

    Sweeeeet!( literally, haha)

awe well let us know how it works out!! I'm unsure if I'll use it because I'm using a poem type thing for something else and I don't want to over do it & make my wedding a Dr. Seuss novel Smiley winking

We went to the wedding where the DJ let everyone know that if we wanted the bride and groom to kiss then the table had to sing a song with the word love in it. I thought it was a great idea and way less obnoxious than clinking glasses!

We are getting married at a Golf and Country club,

FH is an avid golfer, ceremony, cocktails, dinner and reception are all at the Club.

For the kissing, instead of the clinging of the glasses,

we will be designed a miniature golf hole, (mini putt).....

It will be set up in front of the Head table, and in order for us to kiss,

our guests will have to come up and get a HOLE IN ONE

( of course the level of difficulty will make it that we will be able to enjoy our dinner) Grins.
