Us We've been Together since Wednesday, September 21, 2005. It was pretty much lust at first sight. After dating for a while we fell in love and moved in toghether. We have so much in common right down to our geeky love for superheroes. Our favorite activity is get cozy on the couch and watch cartoons.  The Proposal Derek and I had been living together 3 years when I started to get an itchy finger. Derek had absolutely no intention to pop the question. I was starting to think that maybe he just wasn't the one and I was planning on moving out even though it killed me inside. I really love this man. Shortly after I made the decision to leave, my Mom (my hero) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This turned my world upside and really knocked the sense into me. I told Derek how sorry I was that I put so much pressure on him and that the important thing was just to be together. The months went by and things were great. May 7, 2009 while I was out for the day with my friend, Derek would periodically call me just to check in with me which is really unusual for him to do. My friend made a comment like maybe he was planning on proposing. Knowing our history I laughed it off. When I did arrive home, I started opening the door and the lighting of the room was very odd. Once I was in the apartment I could see that the entire apartment was covered and tea lights and Derek was standing there. Turns out he kept calling so he could get the timing right. He bent down on one knee, grabbed my hand and asked me to marry him. I swelled up in tears instantly, got down on my knees and cried yes. My eyes were so full of tears I couldn't even see the ring but it didn't matter. I knew I would love it.
