I was sooooo stressed about my first fitting! I was worried that my dress wasnt going to fit and I wasn't sure what all alterations were going to be made to it or how much it was going to cost me! BUT...it turned out fine and I was really stressed for nothing! The dress did fit and the only alterations that had to be made at my first fitting was adding the bustle. I go next week for my second fitting and i'm looking forward to it! Smiley smile

Is it bad that I am actually hoping the dress doesn't fit? I am pretty convinced I would have fit into a size smaller than the shop suggested because the measurements for the larger size were for my hips and the dress isn't tight there and I was smaller sizes for all the other measurements. So if I fit perfectly into the larger size it means I gained weight.

My dress is already a little big, they ordered a size up because of my chest. And now that I'm losing weight I'm stresssssssing that I will be stuck without a dress!!

I went for my first fitting about 2 weeks ago and I knew I had lost weight since I first purchased my dress, so the sides had to be taken in and I had them do a sweetheart cut in the front. I am soooo nervous now because the weight seems to be coming off faster now then when I first started losing weight. I hope when I go back 3/16 for my second fitting that there is no more alterations needed. BTW do you know if I would have to pay additional fees if I go back for my second fitting and the dress does not fit.

I am totally nervous! My dress fits perfectly except for the bust area (unfortunately, its too big) and my biggest fear is that they won't be able to alter it. The dress is beaded at the top, and I got it at the Priscilla of Boston factory liquidation, so it was a $3,000 dress for $89!.

I am scared to death, everyone has told me that it could run up to $300.00. I am also paying for the MOH and BM's dresses. I only paid 159.00 for the dresses. There is no way I can afford that. That is crazy. They won't be in until March 16th. So I won't have time to even think about it. My wedding is June 16th. I will be lucky to find someone that will alter them that quick. Yes I feel ya girl!!

@marie that's what I have been told, I also have been told two dress sizes is the limit so as not to change the look of the dress...It was already big. Oh well..I just need a valium..anyone?

I'm am slightly stressed! I got my dress 2 times smaller because I knew I'd lose weight, but that may be big too.

They can easily take a dress in they tell you to go a size up because the alterations are easier and they can fit it better specifically to your body If you go a side down and you dont meet that goal or you don't loose weight in certain areas then you are stuck. Cause they either have to order extra fabric and put in a pannel or reorder your dress in a size bigger. Having the dress be a little big is not a bad thing.

@Rachel..I understand it's easier to take it IN then let it OUT..my concern comes from the dress already being big and losing weight. As said previously I was told two sizes was the most to ensure the integrity of the dress remained the same.

2sizes is your dress shop # find a seamstress in your area just about anything is possible. I made my FSIL wedding dress out of a 4 sizes too big prom dress she got at Value Village that she loved the style of.

That's good to hear, but I wasn't told the two dress sizes from the bridal shop. My dressing has a lot of detailing on the bust so I may have to lose some of that.

I'm terrified. I heard it's easy to take in two sizes. I think I'm closer to three since the time I purchased my dress. It keeps me up at night. March 13th cannot get here fast enough.

    You guys are so cute.

I worried about mine too! Except I worried about things like a crooked bottom hem or an off-center bustle. I was practically driving my seamstress crazy. I'm super OCD.

I had to just relax and realize she's done this 100 times before, and I've done it once. So I tried to have faith in her ability and stop being a control freak.

I think they can pretty much do anything these days. I've heard the 2 dress size thing, but I do think it depends on your dress. I would talk to the seamstress about it and really express your concern that the "bones" may suffer. See what she says.

Im worried due to my big butt and average boobs. I had to order a size up but the top is so big. I just want it to fit perfect and make me look skinny. In it's current state though Im nervous as hell. I also go in april. I can always buy another dress though. Mine was only $500.

I am exceptionally worried about alterations. My dress is in pieces right now and won't be fully finished until about September. It is not in enough pieces for me to try on right now and that probably won't happen until about June. I can only go every once in a while to check on the progress. I hope that everything will work out for you and that you will be pleased with your alterations.
