Hi all. I am looking for a recommendation to get my wedding dress altered in NYC. I know that seems easy but with so many options, it's actually harder to figure out where to go. Yes, I have checked Yelp but my issue is that my dress only cost $350 and while I want the work to be done really well, it is pretty simple what I need (taken in and hemmed) and I'm reluctant to pay more than I paid for the actual dress. Anybody had a good experience somewhere that they could recommend?

    Have you had the chance to look through the WeddingWire vendor directory? It's got hundreds of vendors with reviews from newlyweds who booked their services. I searched alterations in the NYC area and came up with a couple of places that mention alterations in their reviews. I'll link them below so you can go through their reviews. You might also be able to go to your local dry cleaners and get it fitted there.

    I've read of a lot of cases on here where the alterations cost more than the dress itself, so depending on what your dress needs, you might need to reevaluate. What alterations are you looking to have done? Shorten the hem, have it taken in?

    Where in NYC are you looking? If you're willing to make a trip to Long Island, the tailor I used is amazing. I needed some heavy alterations to the top of the gown and well as a hem and I had a lace overlay and they were only $120. Place is Gus and Sofia's Tailors. 87 Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook. Gus is an old school, European tailor, he is an expert!

    I was able to figure it out! Planning is going well but the time seems to speed up the closer I get to the big day!!!
