My husband and I married last November it wasn't anything fancy just had close family there and said our vows. I always wanted my special day and some of our family we really wanted there wasn't able to make it that day so we are going to have an actual wedding on our one year anniversary. Is anything different or do I plan as if I'm not married already? I'm sort of confused because I've never witnessed a wedding where the couple wasn't married already...

My brother and his wife did this. No one knew they were already married except her parents and siblings and me and my parents. All the guests, bridal party and grooms party had no idea. So why can’t civilians do this without getting back lash? I did a courthouse wedding and now regret it cause I wish I would have planned and saved for the real thing. It just made sense to run off to the courthouse to get married. But now i wish we hadn’t and just waited cause I missed out on a a lot.

Do what ever makes you happy. My husband and I are renewing our Vows next month- and we are going all out for it gowns and tuxedos, new wedding bands, flowers, and a grand party after with family and friends, my sister even got ordained. The only difference is that you don’t need a marriage license. So do what ever makes you happy it’s your day. I’ve been with my husband 18 years and he was the one who came to me and asked me to “ marry “ him again. I even send out invitations out, but I did put its a vow renewal ceremony with a reception to follow-we even rented a chapel for the hour the cost of the chapel was $150.00, my renewal date is in February and I’ve already spent about 2000 grand but it’s my day ( that’s what my husband calls it ) so enjoy and congratulations

I know this is years later- but also blatantly not true. Nobody is getting offended or calling anyone’s wedding “fake.” If you want a redo because it’s not what you envisioned that’s your prerogative. These negative comments, like yours, mean nothing. Nobody that loves and cares would think this way.

And for the record, I did go to a later college graduation in 2021 when my actual graduation was 2020. Most of my class was there. Nobody cared.
