Alcohol on a budget?!?

We actually went to the liquor store and bought all the alcohol that we thought people would drink (mainly vodka, rum, jack) then we ordered a keg and bought wine and champagne. We just had the catering company be in charge of passing out the drinks. It definitely helped having someone in uniform serve it that way it was a better presentation.

We did 2 kegs of Bud Light at ours for 100 people plus 20 bottles of the Charles Shaw wine from Trader Joe's ($2 a bottle). It was super cheap and everyone seemed to have a great time!

Kari95630 how long was ur reception & how much got drank? My reception is 4 hours with heavy drinkers?!?lol

I've been to a wedding recenly (beautifully done by the way), that had 2 kegs and cheap wine (but it was still yummy), and it was FANTASTIC! Your guests will be more thrilled that they don't have to pay for wine/beer. They don't care if it's in a keg, or a bottle, can or cup...they'll just be super stoked to have it provided. Good luck!

Here is another suggestion. The keg is good if you know that your guest will drink it. But you can also do a rum punch.

they only thing w/margarita's isthat you will need someone to make them. If I were you I would try to do drinks that I can premix and already have them done. If you need any drinks ideas and recipes let me know I will be happy to give you some

We're doing a half keg...and alot of venues do a keg, they just don't you that draft beer is coming from a barrel we're doing margarita's, *** on the beach, fh will get a good bottle of crown royale for him and BM, and the half keg...plus we'll have the mixers...all in all, i'll probably spend about $150 for 30 adults...not too shabby, i don't think. PLUS my girl's 2 sisters are TABC certified, so i'm thinking of having them tend for me...

We are planning on doing kegs and bottles of Chares Shaw wine. It is a very casual reception so I dont anyone will mind. My venue is requiring us to get a bartender for insurance reasons. Im thinking of having a signature drink or two to give the bartender something to do.
