Alcohol at under age wedding?

Reagan, on September 28, 2015 at 2:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

My fiance is 21 but I will only be 19 on the big day. He isn't drinker, and obviously neither am I. So I was wondering if I could just scrap alcohol all together or if it is something that my of age guests (everyone but me) will expect to see there? And what could be a nice bubbly alternative for me at least?

I think that your family and his friends who are over 21 would appreciate some alcohol if you can afford it. That said, only do this if you can hire a pro bartender. If your underage friends drink and get in an accident- you will be in trouble for serving the underage person alcohol.

It would be nice to have Sparkling cider for all the underage guests and yourself to toast with! Consider also having some fancy mocktails for your underage guests so they still have an enticing drink selection.

I think they would appreciate it, i also recommend getting a pro bartender and making sure they check I.D. as far as alternative, sparkling cider Smiley smile

I think you should still offer alcohol for your guests. But as the previous comments said, make sure the bartender you hire is aware of your situation and will check IDs.

I don't think alcohol will be your biggest issue here.

I understand people are saying others would appreciate it that you are bringing alcohol into the mix for the reception, but here is the thing, you don't have to do it if you don't want to. We barely drink and I asked him the other day if he wants it. We do drink socially on occasion. He said he didn't want alcohol at the wedding, so we aren't going to have it. If you two don't want it, don't get it. Otherwise, if you don't want a lot, but appease the other guests, have some champagne for the toasts. Or have a cash bar.

    I wouldn't expect alcohol at a wedding for a 19 year old.

I'm sure some guests would appreciate it, but I wouldn't expect alcohol at an underage wedding. In fact I think I would feel weird drinking alcohol that the couple paid for when they can't drink themselves.

PS if you were in Canada you would be legal already. I had to stop and remind myself that it is 21 in the US.
