Alcohol at a Bridal Shower?

My other sister thinks that there shouldn't be any alcohol. She said it's poor etiquette. Is there a rule for or against having it? Who else is serving alcohol?

Also I don't think it's necessary because it's an English tea party. I think we should just have tea and lemonade.

We had mimosas at my 1st one that my mom, grandma, and aunt threw. My 2nd one that my FMIL threw was in the church basement so no alcohol allowed there lol. My 3rd one will be a work shower held in the conference room so no alcohol. I don't see anytjing wrong with alcohol at showers.

My vote is always yes. I definitely think mimosas or sangrias are an "acceptable" shower alcohol!

We had alcohol at our engagement shower. We combined it for both sides instead of a bachelor and bachelorette party. We had soda water tea and alcohol so people had different options. But if it's an English tea party, I don't see the need for it. But maybe have other drinks available for people who don't want tea.

I've only been to 3 bridal showers in my life. 2 out of the 3 served wine and sparkling wine.

I don't think it matters so much and really depends on where and when/what time of day your shower is. I went to one shower that was during a breakfast. They served a breakfast buffet, coffee, tea, and mimosa if wanted. Another I went to was at an Italian restaurant for lunch. It was BYOB and there was some available but I have to be honest and say that maybe only one or two people drank because of the time of day. I went to another bridal shower that was for my FSIL and it was at my FH's aunts huge mansion-like house. She served everything and anything. She had a bar built into her home with a huge collection of fine wines and a wine cellar so that was a big hit.

I'm having a brunch shower and there will be champagne and mimosas. I really think it just depends on what you want. I went to a tea party shower last week that also had a mimosa bar.

I've never had booze at a shower until my own, but ours was in the backyard at 4pm w two kegs, wines, spiked punch, and basic liquors/mixers. Im v pro booze at any function, bc i can't imagine hosting someone and not offering them a drink

I think mimosas or wine or champagne is fine but to have a full bar seems excessive. We didn't have any because my venue didn't allow for any alcohol (it was in a historical building on a school campus). Most of the women at the shower don't drink but it depends on the crowd I think

I think k it should be up to the bride. My future SIL is throwing us a couples shower. We asked for a chmaogne punch she said she refused to have alsohol there. We offered to pay for and bring the punch.she said no. It's a bbq and the bride (me) is a vegetarian. I'm hating the whole thing.ask the bride it's her shower

I don't think there's a rule for or against it. I say there should be some. It's a party. Every party or gathering we have in my family has a little bit of alcohol, usually just wine and beer. I think mimosas and sangrias sounds yummy! Most of my family are drinkers.
