Alcohol at a Bridal Shower?

Should there be alcohol at a bridal shower? My sisters are planning mine and they keep arguing over this one. One sister thinks we should have wine and mimosas and sangrias. My other sister thinks that there shouldn't be any alcohol. She said it's poor etiquette. Is there a rule for or against...

Should there be alcohol at a bridal shower? My sisters are planning mine and they keep arguing over this one. One sister thinks we should have wine and mimosas and sangrias. My other sister thinks that there shouldn't be any alcohol. She said it's poor etiquette. Is there a rule for or against having it? Who else is serving alcohol?

Also I don't think it's necessary because it's an English tea party. I think we should just have tea and lemonade.

I think most showers I've been to have had mimosas and maybe some wine

I'd say you know your family and friends best, but I've always seen at least spiked punch at showers.

I like alcohol at showers lol. We had sangria at mine! You don't need a full bar, but it's nice to offer at least something. My cousins shower had a mimosa bar and then my other cousin had sparkling wine at her baby shower. Makes showers a lot more fun IMO.

We did Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiis.

I think, for a Tea theme bubbly would be in line with the theme. The Brits LOVE real French Champagne. They also love Gin.

In my opinion (not sure of the etiquette rules) showers would be unbearable without alcohol. I don't think you have to stock a full bar but some nice cocktails would be nice

I don't think it's 'necessary' but I don't think it hurts anything either. I personally like it we had mimosas at mine and it was a huge hit but you're right with a tea it might not fit together.

Yes have alcohol for sure! Those kind of parties can get really quiet and boring if there isn't something fun going on.

I was recently throwing a mass fit about liquor NOT being at my shower. Well that has all been resolved now. None of my family are really stuffy or like to have formal parties; so we are having a beer and wine party over looking the Cincinnati River celebrating our engagement + our co ed bridal shower in one.

I had a brunch shower with mimosas. This is a know your crowd moment, I think.

I think it should depend on budget. If you are going to have it at a house and just get a few bottles of wine its fine, but if you are having a large shower at a fancy restaurant and expecting bms to shell out another 100 per person for alcohol, then I dont think its necessary. I have been to plenty of showers without alcohol its not a big deal.

My girls made a hard lemonade. The pitcher was almost gone by the end of the shower. It was definitely a hit
