Aisle Runner - Indoor wedding?

JRA12216, on September 2, 2016 at 12:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I was trying to see if there was a recent similar post, but I didn't see one so I figured I would ask.

I am having an indoor wedding (ceremony & reception in the same big room). There is a metal seam on the floor ( i think for when they split the room or something) that runs straight down the middle. It isn't a huge deal if we can't hide it, after all its just for aesthetic reasons that I want to hide it. I was just wondering if there was a way to have some sort of aisle runner to disguise it, but I don't want something that is going to be slippery or cause anyone to trip. Anyone else run into this type of thing or have any alternatives? TIY Smiley smile

Maybe instead you could do a bunch of silk or real flower petals?

I think this is one of those cases where you notice it but no one else will......Our venues detest petals. Runners aren't awful, but you're right; they can be very slippery.

Yea, I would rather safety over anything. I was thinking about petals, but then wasn't sure about that. The chairs will create the aisle... and the seam will be just right down the middle, so we may just forego the runner completely. I am just torn. I was thinking burlap at one point, but all i can imagine is someone tripping or it slipping as people walk on it. Thanks! Smiley smile

My DIY. Went to hobby lobby and it really was just only $ 50 for everything. Esp if you go next week the wedding stuff and ribbon are 50 percent off. I have a lot of extra aisle since it's a big roll. Dont know if ill use it but if not i can sale it

Our decor lady just sent me a quote and promises their plain white aisle runner will not slip or move. We need one because the floors are slippery ceramic tile. Cost $250 to rent. My ceremony will only be 30 min. The venue people frowns on disposable runners so I'm thinking I'll just go barefoot lol this is ridiculous!!!

Is your dance floor in the center of the room? Will your tables possibly cover the metal seam? Have you asked what other folks have done in the past? Surely you can't be the only one to ever notice and be open to doing something about it.

The same floor throuhgout the whole room, no designated dance floor. There is a stage in the room (We won't be using it) but it is sort of a guide for where the center of the room is etc. Let me see if i can find a picture...

I know this picture is a little dark, it is what i could find online. But you can see where that line is running down the middle...

It really isn't that bad. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're afraid someone will slip. When the lights are dim like that no one will pay attention.
