Airbrushed vs regular make up...?

Samantha, on September 21, 2012 at 2:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I've heard great things about airbrushed make up but I've never seen or used it. What's good about it and bad about it? Are there any skin types it's not good for? Also is it expensive/does anyone know anywhere in the Philadelphia/Bensalem PA area that does it well?

Don't know how much it runs in the Philadelphia area, but airbrush make up is awesome! It is for all skin types. It lasts forever, and really helps to even out skin and photographs very well. I highly recommend it.

Not sure about pricing. The only negative thing I experienced is it doesn't cover large pores like regular foundation does.

I had non-airbrush makeup done for my two hour e-pics and it literally lasted till midnight and we were running around, sweating at Disney World. If there's a huge price difference, I don't think it's essential.

My daughter and I had airbrush foundation. Initially, I didn't think it was going to be worth it. Considering my daughter was married on August 11th and it was hotter than hell and muggier than St. Louis, MO, the airbrush didn't brush.

We used Casey from Dylan Michaels Cosmetics. She is out of Le Pappillion salon in Jenkintown.

    Here is the price list:

    In the Studio

    • The Bride is invited to receive a free trial.

(Other members of the bridal party are invited to receive a trial at a discounted rate).

    • For those “kissable touch-ups” the bride will receive a complimentary full size lipstick of her choice!

    • $40 per person for traditional makeup; $55 per person for airbrush foundation.

    • No minimum number of people required for in-studio makeup.

    On – Location and Sundays

(Other members of the bridal party are invited to receive a trial at a discounted rate).

    • For those “kissable touch-ups” the bride will receive a complimentary full size lipstick of her choice.

    • For a party of 6 or more:

$65 per person for traditional foundation; $75 per person for airbrush foundation; $50 travel fee waived; Free eyelashes for the bride; $5 eyelashes for bridal party

For photography, airbrushed makeup is ideal. It doesn't wipe off on hubby's lapel or shoulder, it doesn't get "kissed" away by Aunt Sally, and it can withstand heat and humidity. You have to use a cleanser to remove it...the staying power is brilliant. Airbrushed makeup will also give your skin a flawless look. It is very lightweight. It makes a difference in photography. I've had a couple of brides who opted for regular makeup...the MUA used a brush to apply the foundation and there were brush strokes that showed in the close-ups.

I'm a big fan & highly recommend airbrushed makeup to my brides for the reasons stated above. Smiley smile

I used airbrush on my wedding day--I love it! It stayed on all day. And looked great even when I woke up in the morning. It was also raining really bad that day.

I think it's all a matter of opinion on what you feel looks the best on you. You should really have a make-up trial. I always thought I would go with airbrushed make-up but when I had my Mu trial my MUA was soooo ahhhmazing that I didn't end up going with it at all. She acheived the airbrushed look with regular makeup and to me it honestly looked like it was airbrushed. It didn't come off at all and I still had it on the next morning. Here are a couple of pics. Good Luck.

I prefer to use airbrush foundation.

    More natural looking, light application

    Longer lasting, transfer resistant

    Custom blended foundation

All other finishing work is done by hand

It really a preference thing. When I do makeup I dont use airbrush I use Yaby cream and its awesome! Looks just like airbrush and stays just as long.

It really comes down to tools/technique used and properly prepped skin.

I am planning on having airbrushed makeup.. it was very similar in cost to regular make up at the salon we are using.. within $15 I believe. I've heard it lasts better for all day and that it photographs well.. my girlfriend had it at her wedding and it looked absolutely beautiful!

I had airbrushed foundation for my brothers wedding, i had it put on at 7:30 am .. and it lasted until midnight without changing one tiny bit.. it even included all of the bridesmaids jumping in the pool and when I got out of the water it was still perfect! It was also 98 that day and like 90% humidity, the ceremony was at 2pm in the direct sun

It is definitely preference. I am a bride to be and a professional make up artist in the Philadelphia area. I personally don't do airbrush makeup by preference, though I know make up artists that do it. I always custom blend liquid foundation and use an "airbrushing brush" to apply it. You can achieve the same look, and often achieve a better coverage. At the end of the day, the only way you will really know what looks best is to have a make up trial. Airbrush is traditionally more expensive and I don't really think it's worth it. I have done tons of brides and they have always commented on how beautiful the make up was and how long it lasted. A good, experienced make up artist will carry tons of foundations in her/his kit that will suit your skin type and have the necessary products like setting spray that will keep it on flawlessly for 16+ hours.. through rain, tears, sweat..etc. Good luck and have fun at your trial!!

Oh and It is usually more expensive because its more expensive makeup for the artist to purchase.

I'm not sure how much it costs in your area. I actually own an airbrush makeup system myself, and I swear by it (even for every day!). It's super fast, stays on all day, and makes you look flawless.

Note: If you do go airbrush, I would only airbrush the foundation; blush powder is always better than airbrush blush
