I hear that airbrush is better because you can't sweat through it ... whether that's true or not I'm not sure. However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do airbrush because I sweat a lot when I'm nervous ... not the best thing for wedding pictures lol

Okay, this is definitely a great question! I specialize in both applications however, I do find airbrush to be the better choice depending on your skin type. For aged skin, traditional is much more appropriate. Airbrush is truly a flawless application of makeup - no streaking - no smearing - nada! Most artists charge slightly more than traditional because of the cost of airbrush makeup and equipment. It also takes a significant amount of time in perfecting your skin (face, shoulders, back, etc.) Once the process is complete you look AMAZING! Back in March I worked on a girl who had severely damaged skin (acne and hyperpigmentation) - after the application - you would have never known! I am not telling you to get hosed but if it costs $25 more or so - GO FOR IT!!!! Check out my site for faces I have airbrushed - you can tell the difference!

Hope this helps and best of luck!!!

As an "older" bride..lol. Why is traditional make up better for older skin?

What exactly is airbrush makeup? Is it just for the foundation? Are the products oil free? About how much does it cost?

From a photography standpoint, airbrush is much better. It's not vastly more expensive with the makeup artists I've worked with. You will get a much more flawless look with airbrush. It stays on all day...with your wedding being in June, airbrush will not melt & slide off your face the way traditional makeup will. I've had brides with airbrush and traditional. The airbrushed makup looked good from the start of the day through the reception. The others barely made it through the ceremony and their makeup wasn't looking so great by the time we were taking formals. If your makeup artist happens to use a brush instead of a sponge to apply your makeup, the brushstrokes will show up in your photos. With the high sensitivity of our cameras, they pick up every imperfection...even brush strokes in foundation...I know this from one of my brides from last year.

EMinDee Images~it all depends on the type of brush the artist uses as well...sponges actually absorb a lot of product which is why most artist stay clear of sponges....if your artist had trouble with "stroke lines" unfortunately it sounds like poor technique or poor brushesSmiley sad daylight outdoor photos may be great for airbrush...as far as indoor rainy day weddings where you have to use flash....traditional is the way to go...either way you still have to use a brush to blend...just the name of the game!

I hope this was helpful lots of great opinions and advice I hope the soon to be bride finds what she is looking for!! Congratulations on your engagement!!

I have my own airbrush machine and did my own makeup for the wedding. Airbrush is FLAWLESS as stated by others. And it's more than just foundation, you can do your eyes with a bronzer and white shimmer and get beautiful eye make up that stays all day and night, there are blushes too and colors to use specifically for slimming. It is water based for the one who asked.

Sharon - the reason I don't like applying an airbrush application on aged skin is because of wrinkles. When the compressor/gun shoots out the makeup it is not going to cover in between creased skin. I have found that a light application of airbrushing WITH a traditional application of liquid foundation is the way to go! I have worked on multiple skin types - this was a trial and error discovery. When I say aged - I mean severely wrinkled due to sun exposure or age.

Wendy - There is water based airbrush makeup and water proof (mostly used to cover tattoos). It is the lightest coverage (meaning you won't even feel it). There is no sticky residue and it is pure perfection when applied correctly.

    Hope this helps!

My cousin had her make-up airbrushed on for her wedding day. Not only did it look great, it stayed on throughout the whole day.

Larissa, that does help, thanks! I don't have any deep wrinkles, so I think I'm going to do the airbrush.
