We are having a luncheon. Is beer and wine fine or should we have a full bar? We have a lot of family who don't drink so we don't want to do a bar package so we would pay per drink. My friend said her bar bill was inflated because the bartender upgraded every drink to the premium liquor even if the guest didn't ask and I was hoping beer/wine would keep the price down.

Any other ideas?

Bling bling - It includes many non-alcoholic drinks such as iced tea, coffee, and all sorts of pop. I'll have to see if lemonade is an option.

FutureMrs PC - I can have 2 whites and 2 reds - any suggestions? I'm paying per drink so I can pick anything from their wine selection but obviously I don't want to pick anything too pricy. I don't know what wineries they carry but if you can suggest 2 whites and 2 reds to ask them, I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure what other people like, but here is what I would pick:

Reds - Chianti and Pinot Noir (or if it is inexpensive enough I would go for a red zinfandel- they are my new personal favorite red wine. NOTE: this is different from a white zinfandel).

Whites - Chardonnay and a Riesling or Pinot Grigio (both are pretty good semi-sweet options)

Ok for 2 whites, I would probably go with a Pinot Grigio for the dry & a sweet or at least semi-sweet Riesling.

For the red, I would go with Pinot Noir for dry & for the sweet I'd probably go with White Zinfandel. It's actually a rose but close enough.

I actually prefer dry so it's possible someone else who prefers sweet might give you some better choices.

Lol @ 8815!! I love you choices!! The only reason I didn't say Chardonnay is because so many people have a strong preference to either w/oak or not. But it's one of my faves either way!!

Okay I'm gonna have to go pour me a glass of something!!

I think beer and wine are perfectly acceptable for a luncheon wedding. It depends upon the age of your guests. If it's mostly an older crown (over 35) then I would go with Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio for whites, and Cabernet and Merlot for reds. If it's a younger crowd, then go with Pinot Grigio and Riesling and Merlot maybe a Rose. White Zinfandel is like candy, to me, but I loved it when I was 24.

We're only doing beer and wine to keep down the cost. And I love Yuengling! It's my favorite beer.

Thank you everyone! I'm saving these wine choices to give my banquet manager.

We had a luncheon Sunday wedding and stuck to beer, wine, and hard cider. Since many folks were traveling a state away and were not staying at a hotel, we also didn't want to promote heavy drinking. We also provided sodas and juices for those who don't drink alcoholic beverages,
