After Party - yes or no?

After you having an after party post-wedding? FH and I are deciding if we should tell guests to just meet at the same street of bars or organize something at the hotel we're staying at the wedding night. Did you have an after party? Why or why not?

DO IT! We did and had a blast. We went to a bar/bowling alley a few blocks away. Mostly younger people came, but my Dad actually stayed out til 2 something with us.

We didn't formally host, it was open to whoever wanted to come. Our planner called them in advance with a ballpark estimate of people that'd be coming, ended up being about 30-40 of us. They were awesome and charged us NADA, everyone just paid for their own drinks and we all pitched in for any bowling and other games. There are ways to keep the night going without you having to put money down. It was the perfect way to end the night for us!

    No. A needless money expenditure.

Go home or get a hotel....make whoopee, not pass out too tired and drunk.

We went to the hotel bar after. I vaguely remember some people I know being there, but I think I only had one drink and called it a night. Too much vodka.

We had an after party but didn't host. We just let people know what bar we were going to. About 30 people came. Our reception ended at 9 though so most people were still in party mode.

We didn't plan one, but it happened anyway and we had a great time! Everyone hung out in the lobby of the hotel the evening before the wedding, after the wedding, and for brunch the next day. It was great. Someone ordered some pizzas and we brought all of the spare wine Smiley smile

We are not. Our reception ends at midnight. Our flight leaves at 5:05 am for the honeymoon. If our guests want to go to a bar after, they can keep the party going, but we will be going to the hotel for some alone time for an hour or two then off to the airport!

We went to a nightclub after our wedding. It was about 12 of us and so much fun!

I can see us doing something super informal like going back to a bar or hotel room, but other than that it is just too much money. I can completely see being way too tired too and just making it an unconscious party for two

We are having an after party. We're having a brunch wedding at home with a bonfire starting at sunset. We're doing this first because we want to spend as much time with friends and family as possible. Also, we expect to have a lot of left-over alcohol that will need consumed Smiley winking

We are doing a club/bar hop. Our wedding and reception are on the main party strip in Tampa(Ybor City), as is our hotel. When the reception ends at 9:30, we will headed back to the hotel, change and proceed to the clubs/bars. Most of our guests know about this and will be joining us. The night following our wedding is the Gasparilla Knight Parade which is a HUGE deal for anyone from Tampa, it's kind of Tampa's version of Mardi Gras. Our wedding celebration will continue into that day as well.

We are having an after party. Most of our guests are OOT and we don't see them often. Since it's an afternoon wedding, an after party will allow us to hang out with them more. We are providing light snacks (salads and veggies) only.

Yes! We are having one, but mostly because we are having a daytime wedding that will be over by 4pm and we both have alot of family members that will want to continue the party...and most of those are closer family members that we really want to be able to spend some more time with too! We're having it in the bar of the hotel that we are staying at for the wedding night, which is closer to where we live (and where many out of town guests are staying) and we expect probably no more than 40 people. We've worked with the hotel to reserve some long bar tables and a lounge area and plan to provide a few orders of apps on each of the tables for everyone to snack on...also hoping there'll be some left over cake Smiley smile We might spring for a bottle of champagne per table to get the party started, but that will be the extent of our "hosting". This bar also has live music on the weekends and a fun atmosphere...FH and I have enjoyed doing our "research" on that! Smiley smile We likely would not have had an after party had we planned an evening wedding. I know FH and I will probably get pretty tired quickly from such a long day, so we're planning to make our way back to our room by 9pm, if not sooner...everyone else is welcome to party the night away!

We're not having a formal party, but we are walking out wedding guests who are interested across to a big stretch of bars across the river to the venue. We plan on having one drink with our partying guests, and let them rock out the rest of the night while we head back to the hotel.

We are at the venues hotel bar downstairs. I just need to get it in writing that they will stay open until 1 or 2am as usually I think it closes at midnight but our wedding ends at midnight. It's a destination wedding so all guests are OOT. This is not something we will be paying for though its a come if you wish. All my friends weddings have had an after party either at a local bar or hotel bar where everyone was staying and its always on the guest to pay at that point not the bride/groom.

Our reception will be finishing at midnight, so I think an after party is not even possible at that point.

We might. There is an area where they have their continental breakfast in the hotel where they say they will let us be there all night if we want to.

We had an after party at the Margaritas attached to the hotel. We paid for the food and everyone paid for their own drinks. It was a blast and pretty much everyone that was staying at the hotel joined us, about 70-80 people. And who doesn't love late night Mexican. The food didn't cost us much either. I say do it.

I think we are just going to continue to party into the wee hours at our reception after the DJ leaves. We're renting 500 acres for the whole weekend so we plan to take full advantage. However there are no bars or anything within miles so the afterparty is pretty much on us.

Something informal - just the bar across the street from the hotel probably. FH and I met at a wedding after-party in a hotel bar, so I feel like we should at least do something for our own wedding haha.
