African American Ladies Hair Help for Honeymoon!!!!

Kristen, on January 15, 2012 at 11:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I have relaxed hair and I am not a person who does their own hair well. We are honeymooning at Sandals and idk what I am going to do with my hair on the beach or after swimming.

What are your plans to do for your hair on your honeymoon? Help a sista out!!

I would suggest micro braids before the honeymoon or small cornrows in a pretty design. I have trouble doing my own hair as well but I usually can throw a wig on or wear a quickweave and not worry about it. But being that your probably going to be in the water a lot, i know our hair tends to get really thick and really curly, i say the braids would be ideal. You could always just wear your hair and purchase a few wigs or natural looking lacefronts to wear over your hair whenever your not planning on being in the water. That is another easy option. As for me, I plan on having hair sewn-in for the wedding day so I will probably roll with that for the honeymoon as i can just blow-dry it and flat-iron it.

I'm terrible with my hair. I'm bi-racial, and it is unruly! I usually wear it braided year round. I did try the Japanese straightening, and it worked wonders. I would recommend but if you have relaxer, you have to wait and grow it out a bit.

I would get it braided. When you swim, wear it in one big braid, nice and tight with the end closed up, and wet it with warm freshwater first, from the roots up. Keep it contained. Then when you get out of the water, rinse it again. And then later, wash and condition.

Im not a "sista" lol but my hair gets really badly damaged when i swim...it gets all tangled and crazy and dry because my hair is pretty long..so not cute for honeymoon lol

as rachel suggested, its better to wet it freshwater first. also, bring along a spray leave in conditioner, spray it into your hair and put it up in a bun. i find if i do a braid, even the braid gets tangled up. but if you put the leave in conditioner first, the salt water or chlorine wont be absorbed as much.

i dunno if that helps you out or not...but maybe it can give you some guidance! =]

I rock a swim-cap anytime I go near water. I found several styles at TJ Maxx that really work. The silicone ones have worked best for me.

I am wearing my hair with a few tracks (hair extensions) on the wedding day. We are leaving for Denver on Monday so on that Sunday I will be getting my hair braided in some kinky twists, corn rows, or something to avoid all the fuss during the honeymoon. BTW I look like who did and why come when I don't go get my hair done Smiley smile

I plan to get crazy in the water too, but I actually know how to handle my hair. Rather you know how to handle it or not, it still takes time. So with that said I will not be doing much to mine. I plan on washing and blowing out. B/c of the length of my hair I can do a really cute part and banging earrings and roll from there. You might also want to try mouse and wet. I do that and it gives it a good look too. Not sure of the texture of your hair tho. Depending on when you plan on leaving for honeymoon, braids may not be in the plans for time sake. Best wishes honey!

I suggest before you leave to get a weave called wet and wavy for the water. Make sure it is the kind you can blow dry straight and curl it or just wear it strait. But the wet and wavy is the best thing you can have for the beach. You can wear it up , out ponytail or how ever.
