Afordable Chicago Suburb venues

Stephanie, on September 3, 2012 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

We are looking for a wedding venue for around 175-200 people. We want to keep our venue costs to around **** in the North/ Northwest suburbs. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places to look into!

What's the theme of your wedding? Does it matter what type of venue it is?

How far from the city are you willing to go? Prices will get cheaper as you move away from Chicago.

Is $10-$12k just for the venue? Or is that your whole wedding budget (including photographer, DJ, etc.)?

And if your wedding date is correct, you're hoping to get married on a Sunday? If so, that will definitely save you some money!

Oh wow! If that budget is just for the venue u can get anything u want! U might even be able to have it in the sky Smiley smile

Like Mrs A said, the farther away from the city the prices. How far would be too far for you?

I had mine in a hotel close to Ohare and it was pretty great. It was at 4points sheraton hotel and they worked greatly with my budget.

Gee In my research it seems like we are cutting it close with that amount, due to the amount of people.

We are open to a Sunday wedding and we are open venue styles I am trying to stay away from just a straight banquet room. originally wanted a rustic barn wedding however the place I love is too small.

We are looking in the Palatine, Schaumburg, Libertyville, Kildeer, area North and Northwest burbs.

Stone gate in Hoffman Estates is amazing! Very close to hotels, restaurants for the rehearsal, and not hard to get to from the city.

Sorry, i didn't notice the barn post and that is more banquet.

What about Independance Grove in Liberityville?

Sadly there aren't a lot of venues for barn/rustic weddings that close to the city.

Hoosier Grove Barn in Streamwood is cute, rustic, and reasonably priced, but only fits about 100ish and there isn't the space to put an outdoor tent to add more seating.

Vehe Barn in Deer Park could be an option, but the reviews are sketchy and I honestly have no idea how to rent it or how many people it fits.

Jewell Tea Pavilion in Barrington is another rustic option (you rent through the Barrington Park District). The space itself is smaller (only fits ~100ish), but they offer a tent rental so you could add more tables outside. It's an open air space so you could actually connect the tent to the building and open the connecting wall. It would definitely take extra set-up to make it work though.

It's further south than you're looking, but Vasa Park in South Elgin can accommodate that many people. It's all BYO though -- you'd pay $1200ish to rent the space, outdoor pavilion, and tables... but then catering, alcohol, etc. would all be a la carte. Which could be good or bad depending on how much planning you want to do.

The Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake could be a good fit, but it's way north. The rental itself is kind of pricey (close to $3k), but there are lots of inexpensive catering options and you can BYOB.

Our budget for the whole wedding is about $8k for 115 people, and to do that we had to go pretty far out from Chicago. We ended up in Sugar Grove, which is about an hour south of where you're looking.

You'll have better luck on a Friday or Sunday, but lots of banquet halls and country clubs have food/beverage minimums that are close to $10K, plus an 18-20% gratuity. Plus if you're in Schaumburg-area it's still Cook County, so the tax is like 11%.

I'm having a modern/vintage wedding at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet, IL. The mansion would be too small for your numbers probably, but the ballroom on the estate would work and the min is 12,000. The grounds are beautiful as well as the house, church, and ballroom. The people who run the estate are professional, friendly, patient, and very helpful. Its worth a look.

So, does that mean you wish to have your reception near Joliet?

How far would you travel from ceremony to reception?

Any chance you would change your ceremony if you found the right location?

And again, How many miles are you willing to have your guests drive?

    or how much time?

Are you guests local? Will they know how to get around?

Would you be willing to change the ceremony location if you found a place that had a good ceremony location and reception location?

We don't have a ceremony location yet and most of our guest are in the Palatine NW suburb area... They don't mind driving too much.

Oh. Sorry, I thought you were having the ceremony at Jacob Henry and needed a reception space to go with.

Is the arabian Knights too rustic?

Did you check out the Millrose link I posted. About 20 min from Palatine.

Would you like to go out to the Riverside in Geneva???
