Affordable Wedding Venue

Tiffany, on November 17, 2018 at 12:36 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
I’m kinda freaking out because we set our date to be end of September to early October of 2019. We have been having such a hard time finding a place that’s affordable for about 100 guests. I’m in PA but willing to look at places in Jersey or DE. Everyone keeps saying I have time and to relax but my anxiety is going crazy. I just want to book a venue. I’d like to have both ceremony and reception at the same place with outside ceremony which could also be taken indoors if weather is bad. Does anyone have any creative suggestions?

October is a very popular month to get married. So you don’t really have that much time because a lot of places may already be booked. What does affordable mean to you?

    What about:
    1) cutting your guest list (50 instead of 100)?
    2) doing a Sat or Sun brunch instead of dinner?
    3) choosing a different month?

We are looking to spend about 10K or under for ceremony/reception/food/alcohol. It’s been hard because not many all inclusive places are under $100 per person and most places that rent out just their venues are like 7-8k and bring in caterer and alcohol. It’s been so frustrating lol. I can’t cut down the guest list just trying to find that diamond in the rough.

We set our date approximately a year after getting engaged, and I had the same dilemma. I wanted a beautiful venue with reception and ceremony available, and needed to do it cheap due to our “small” 10k budget. We ended up booking a beautiful lakeside enclosed pavilion at a local state park, and will supplement that space with a tent rental! It comes with tables and benches, so I saved costs there too! There is quite a lot of DIY in the means of set up and decor, but I’m saving A LOT by getting married there instead of a traditional professional venue. We are spending around $1600 total, for 3 days rental of the pavilion and the supplemental rentals. Have you looked at state parks in your area? It’s a lot of paperwork and leg work, but was worth it to me to be able to save that much money! The cheapest venues I found in my area were over $5000, and I didn’t want to spend half my budget on just a place to do the thing.

Your venue ideas sound exactly like my venue but I’m in NC. We booked 18 months in advance bc fall is really popular. Maybe you could push your date back a little bit?

Scotland Run in Glasboro NJ was where my FSS was going to get married, before he called it off. I am sure they can accommodate the guests, and it’s a one-stop-shop there!

Utilize the venue finder in wedding wire to locate a venue. Roughly the cost per person for NJ, PA and NY are 100 per person and up for a nicer full service venue. I would advise utilizing venues that specialize in parties vs weddings. Those venues tend to be cheaper less than 100 per person.

Farmstead Golf & Country Club in Lafayette, which is up in Sussex county is completely affordable, has the outdoor ceremony space & has a minimum of 75 guests for Saturday weddings & doesn’t have a minimum for Friday or Sunday weddings.
