Affordable Wedding Dresses

Isabella, on July 21, 2021 at 8:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 19

Hi ladies! So, my wedding is on 9/10/2022 and I figured it's almost time to start wedding dress shopping. I am however having a VERY hard time coming to terms with spending such a crazy amount of money on a dress that I am only wearing once. I want to love my dress and I want to feel beautiful, but I also want to try to find something a little cheaper. Has anyone had any luck with shopping online for wedding dresses? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance Smiley smile

There are loads of places that offer wedding dresses that aren't ridiculous.

ASOS is a great one, and Chi Chi London have loads of dresses under $500(AUD). I've heard as well that sometimes places like TJ Maxx have great dress sales for designers also!

David’s Bridal ended up being the most reasonable for me. I got a 200 dress that didn’t need alterations but I wanted it shorter to keep it off the ground.
I was torn between it, and a $75 white bridesmaids dress with a $30 bridal belt.
It was actually bra shopping that helped me pick the $200 dress lol. I’ve seen them super cheap in Facebook groups too.

Check the prom section of the shop for a white/off-white dress. Some are very bridal looking. I wouldn't chance ordering online unless I could order a few and send back what didn't for free, like Amazon or Asos.

I didn’t buy my dress online but I did buy it off rack for half price! I paid $700 for my Maggie sottero dress instead of $1,500. I would try the sample racks and see if you find your dream dress!!! Otherwise I know lulus has good selections!

StillWhite.com and PreownedWeddingDresses.com are options. Both sites carry new/unused/unaltered dresses (in addition to used dresses that former brides are selling).

Lulus has really developed out their wedding section! They have a lot of cute options, a decent return/exchange policy, and most tend to be under $200. They get new options throughout the seasons as well! https://www.lulus.com/categories/2042_3502/wedding-dresses.html?subsite=bridal

I would try David’s Bridal, Lulu and BHLDN. They all have very nice reasonably priced dresses.

Ahhh! Seriously the best choice I ever made was to buy off the rack. So the dress is sold as is. Email bridal shops and ask of they have clearance racks or out of season dresses. They will all be lower. I also asked if they had dresses in my price range before going and it worked perfectly.

These are all great options but I saw a lot of brand new never worn dresses on stillwhite. I am actually selling mine on there too! The bridal shop didn't deliver it in time for my wedding, I go pick it up from the store tomorrow actually.

I bought mine on a website called Tradesy. It has tons of wedding stuff that are pre-owned, gently used, and new. I got a David's Bridal dress (with the tags still on it) that retails for $699 USD for $200 USD.

I bought mine online! I was heavily looking at the dresses on Lulu's, and I found a dress I liked, but they didn't have my size. So I went on Poshmark & ended up finding a different Lulu's dress that was discontinued, but I loved! So I bought my dress from Poshmark for $90 NWT! It fit perfectly so I didn't have to spend extra money on alterations. I was also looking on Etsy, Azazie, and ASOS. I actually also bought dresses from ASOS, but I think the quality of Lulu's material is better from my experience.

Yes, check Poshmark, Facebook marketplace - so many people try to resell designer dresses afterwards, so you can definitely find a good deal.

Not sure what style of gown you like, but if you are into boho/lace, I just got my dress from https://queengowns.com/ in the mail and it was absolutely perfect. She made the dress to my measurements for an additional 50 dollars. In total I paid less than $600 for my dress which now doesn't even need alterations. I tried on an identical gown at BHLDN and it was $1300 (without alterations)

Azazie . I dont know about wedding dresses but u can order bridesmaids dresses in your size and style to try on and then return. The quality is great. I've ordered 2 different wedding bridesmaids from them and the quality for price is unmatched!

David’s Bridal has budget friendly options. If you know how to measure yourself you could buy on eBay or Facebook marketplace. Used dresses are a great option. You could also go dress shopping just to know your size. A lot of David’s Bridal dresses end up being resold.

Also if your date is September of next year, you don’t need to start shopping until at least October/November. There are so many posts about brides buying a dress early and then several months before the wedding they decide they want something different and there is a huge time crunch unless they buy off the rack.
