Affordable New England venue for winter

Rebecca , on December 15, 2014 at 10:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hello everyone,

I'm new to wedding wire and joined specifically because of the way brides help each other out on the forums. My fiance and I are looking to have a winter wedding in New England (MA and RI preferred, but open to NH, VT, ME and CT too) in early 2016 with an art deco/20's feel for around 200 guests. the problem of course is budget. we're looking to spend around 15k. We're considering ways to cut cost such as a cocktails and apps reception, because the feel of the venue is important to us. My ideal venue would be an old mansion with a dark dramatic look..not at all rustic or barn like. I've seen quite a few places... and so far they have been beyond our price range or just not right. I understand my budget limitations, but I just feel like there has to be a hidden Gem out there somewhere. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!!

I suggest using my venue - the Holiday Inn Mansfield. They have a great package and the staff there is amazing. I highly recommend them!

ETA: We have been to 3 wedding there, none of which had a hint of RUSTIC to them.

There's TJ smith's in East Bridgewater, MA. Gives a home feeling to it and relatively cheap!

    Aldrich Mansion - RI

ETA: Honestly, I think all the "mansions" in RI/MA will be very expensive.

Glen Manor's prices decrease in the winter months. Try them as well. Here is their link:

Have you considered Quidnessett Country Club in Rhode Island? It's really beautiful and it's inexpensive, my FH and I plan on booking with them hopefully soon. And I have been to weddings there and it's just gorgeous!
