Advice needed

Geralynn, on April 27, 2022 at 2:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I don’t even know where to start. Partner and I got engaged in December 2019 after being together for 6 years. Didn’t have any plans of a wedding right away because why the rush. Then the pandemic hit and not really knowing what was going to happen and how long it was going to last we ended up buying our first home together then the talk of getting married happened and we just decided to do a courthouse wedding in 2021.

It’s always been my dream to walk down the aisle in a dress that I said yes too. Unfortunately things didn’t happen that way because of the pandemic Smiley sad. My now husband and I want to now have a wedding ceremony and reception and be able to have our family and friends a part of it.

I don’t even know where to start when it comes to planning a wedding. I am a dear in headlights.

Would it be weird to do the whole ceremony and reception as if we weren’t already married? I wanna walk down the aisle, I want that to be the first time he sees me…etc. just like a traditional wedding event.Do I even make sense. Help!!

I don't think that's weird. It's your day and I think it is even more understandable because the pandemic made it impossible. I think there are more people doing that today than ever.

Delayed celebrations, vow renewals, and/or second weddings seems to be very common in these COVID times. Not strange at all!

If that’s what you want, then do it! I have my opinion on it, but if it’s what you want to do then go for it!

Plan your ceremony spot and reception place first. That pretty much lines up everything else.

I say go for it. If it's in y'all's budget then walk down that isle for the first time.

Absolutely you can imagine your wedding any way you want. How fun to have a wedding as if it’s the first time!

I would go ahead and plan it as a vow renewal, and have all the things you want. The only exceptions would be a shower and bachelorette.
