Advice for Weddings Being Postponed

Samari, on March 18, 2020 at 5:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
Hello Everyone,

My wedding had to be POSTPONE!!!! At first I was devastated but I am now at ease. Advice for the soon to be brides, we could of never seen this coming. The ones who has to postpone their wedding, stay strong. Your vendors will work with you. Don’t think that they won’t help it will stress you out more! Trust me it’s affecting them as well. Once you find a day that will suit you and all your accommodations you will look at more positives than negatives. Yes I know a lot of time and hard work was put into your supposed to be dream wedding (I’ve been planning since 2018) but think about the love ones you are putting at risk, especially your grandparents, parents, older aunts etc .. IF WE SURVIVED THE PLANNING AND THE DRESS FITTINGS, WE CAN SURVIVE THIS !!

Hi guys! We are supposed to get married on May 16 in Maryland. Our
venue told us that as of right now, the venue is still going as is with
May weddings. For those getting married in March and April, they are
giving couples two options: to have the wedding but only up to 50 guests
(that includes vendors) or to postpone. We have not had to make that
decision yet but we were trying to come up with a plan b to still have
the legal ceremony on the same date and have the reception at a later
time. It looks like this will not be able to happen either because the
city has stopped issuing marriage licenses for the foreseeable future.
We already sent out invitations. I am not sure what to do.

    It
is tough. I feel angry, disappointed, helpless, frustrated, selfish for
worrying about a wedding when there are people who are are worrying
about how they will keep a roof over their head and food on the table,
and a whole bunch of other emotions.

Erica so sorry that this is happening to you as well. My suggests is if you have a lot of family coming from out of town or if you plan on inviting a lot of people I would post pone. Although things may be back together people may not afford to come down for a wedding or take the days off due to many jobs closing temporarily without pay. However, you do have time to check on your guests to see if their plans remain the same. If more people are not sure it is best you postpone just so you don’t spend extra money on empty seats. If you do plan on having a small wedding I would still reach out to your guests but it will probably be easier to get everyone together again. I wouldn’t wait too long because I’m sure you would want all your vendors to be available is you do decide to postpone. Good luck and I know this decision is difficult

    Hi Samari,

We ended up postponing our wedding until next year. Unfortunately the only day we could get that was earliest Saturday March 6, 2021. It is not ideal but at this point I don't really care about the date. I just want everyone to feel safe and be able to come and feel healthy and have fun.
