Advice for Wedding Planning

Kylee, on August 24, 2020 at 7:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

I've been engaged with my FH for almost a year now and we have almost 2 years left until our wedding day. We've been doing some small planning here and there such as pinning our ideas on Pinterest or asking simple questions on here, but we haven't done actual wedding planning yet since our wedding is in 2022, but we do plan to start planning here in October since that will be when we have 2 years left. We have booked our venue early since the venue we wanted was starting to run out of dates for that year already. Other than that, we haven't booked anything else yet since we've been told that it may be too early to.

I'm making this discussion because I would really appreciate any advice on wedding planning. Such as things I need to know before we start planning or just general wedding planning tips that me and my FH should know to help us when we do start planning here in a month.

Thank you so much in advance! Smiley smile

Congrats on securing your venue! Next steps would be to prepare a guest list and set a budget if you haven't already. You can either hit it on the dot, end up staying under or going over so just be prepared either which way it can go. After that, you want to look into booking catering, photography/videography and band or DJ. There's also a Planning Tools tab on here that helps wonders on when you should have everything done by. If you feel you can plan all, go for it. If not and you still need help, you can also look into partial planners to help you get everything in order.

    Good luck!

I think one of the biggest things is definitely setting a budget (if you have one). Because the rest of the planning and vendors will be based off of that. It doesn’t have to be an exact number but definitely a ballpark (like saying you don’t want to go over $15,000 etc)

Try and get a rough idea of how many people will be in your guest list, your list might go up and down since it’s a while away, but a rough number is a good idea to have on paper. Then, start researching and contacting vendors to book. Looks like you have lots of time though!
