Advice for getting a video message from a bestfriend that can't be at the wedding.

IItsumo, on August 6, 2017 at 1:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

My FH best friend was supposed to be his BM however he recently got offered a promotion to store manager and the store opens the weekend of our wedding. Both my FH and I understand his choice he has a family to support and the job would help him to that better. My FH is torn up about it though because his bestfriend wont be there at the wedding. I came up with the idea of asking this friend to make a video message/speech to play at the wedding and surprise my FH. However I'm not sure if It would come across wrong or if It would be sweet.

I don't think it would come across as wrong just a matter of whether or nots it's really necessary or how you'd go about having the video played during your ceremony or reception. Will there be a screen or projector available?

Yes our Venue has a projector its going to project our monogram most of the time on the wall. I thought that switching it just before the toasts and playing the video would be a touching surprise. Is it necessary probably not 100% but seeing my FH torn apart the last week about having to replace his best friend as best man and having him say that he wont have that special speech like I will with my best friend hurts. I love my FH and I want him to have that moment though it wont be face to face I thought It would still be special.

I say go for it then if the BM is willing to do this. Maybe if he's not working the entire day, he'll also be able to stop by and make a quick appearance.

I'm pretty sure everyone from my FH family already knows he will be missing same with the our friends. However that might be a good idea to let him see it first.

@FutureMrs. I wish that was the case However the store is in a different state and is a 5 hour drive from us.

Sounds like a great way to include someone who can't be there in person, but really wanted to be. Go for it

I agree with @ellaenchanted- show it to him while he's getting ready.

My best friend is having a baby due date the day after our wedding (very poor planning on her part - LOL) I created a secret Facebook group page for her as well as a couple of other people who can't attend. My teen niece is going to do a Facebook live video of the ceremony so those that can't attend will be able to see the ceremony as it happens.

Don't replace him in the BP,

And if you have a video message, it should be private.
