Probably yes... if they run through your printer and you could allign them right you COULD type them ... but i think hand writting them would be just as easy

What if i used clear labels?

what exactly is the rule of thumb, and is it percieved as tacky to do it with labels?

I'm writing mine...I'm going to do it over the course of a week so I only have to do about 15/day. I was going to recruit FH to help but his handwriting looks like a 4 year old's.

Well do you have bad handwritting or why do you prefer typing? Each label will have a different address so it won't really save you time. I would just sit down with a good movie (that you have seen enough to not get caught up in) and suck it up... jmho

I used clear labels for my invites and they look fine. I have decent hand writing but I think it looks much nicer using a font to go with our theme.

I hand wrote all of mine but am printing the addresses actual invites! Save the Dates are informal so if you write the addresses, I don't think it matters!

I don't think there is a rule. If you've got nice handwriting, you can do that. But, doing them on the computer is good too. You can enter all the info in a spreadsheet then do a mail merge. All of the hard work will be done by the computer. Plus, once you have them typed in, you can also use the list to print your invite envelopes.

I offer my clients envelopes that are computer printed. I actually think it looks nicer than calligraphy (which is another option).

I don't think there is a rule for the save the dates. You can hand write it or label it. Doesn't matter. The invitations are the ones that should have a label or have a calligrapher.

I printed using my inkjet straight onto the envelope for my save the dates.. better looking than using white labels.. and easier on my hand than hand addressing them. Smiley smile

Here is a sample of an RSVP envelope with the address printed directly on the envelope.

Definitely do labels. Once you've done the STD's, you can just reprint the same exact labels for the invites.

I would go with printing them directly on the STD's...make sure to test it out first to make sure everything is lined up properly...but there is no reason why it wouldn't work...

I think it depends on how formal your save the dates are. I mean if they're magnets you probably can let the handwrittenness slide. I'm handwriting my invites but probably going to type onto clear things for my save the dates.

Because you asked about the "rule", it is proper to handwrite the address on envelopes for anything mailed to your guests (minus RSVP return envelope). What I did was handwrite the address, and printed our return address on the envelope.

However if your wedding is a little less formal, you could always print the address on the envelope in a script font. (I don't care for labels because even the clear ones you can see) If you need some suggestions on fonts, let me know (my favorite right now is ChopinScript).

And as always, do what you feel comfortable doing Smiley smile

We opted to get clear address labels and print them for our STDs since they are less formal. But honestly I wish I would have handwritten them. I don't know if it's because my printer is older or what was going on, we could not get it to line up the address labels even using the given format! It would print like it was supposed to on regular paper, but then shift up once you put the labels in. We wasted at least two sheets of labels and I about had a mental breakdown, it was driving me nuts!
