Addressing envelopes?

Crescent 1894, on March 14, 2016 at 11:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 45

Ladies and brides to be, how are you addressing your invitations? I don't know if I can have addresses printed directly on the envelopes for the invitations (using weddingpaperdivas). My writing is notoriously sloppy, so handwriting is out. Did everyone send the envelopes through a printer? Clear labels? Are clear address labels tacky? Can I just take the envelopes and my spreadsheet to Kinkos?

Are your WPD envelopes A6? There may be a chance that your home printer could print them. Do it via Word with mail merge in the envelope option.

I don't see why you couldn't go to kinkos call them and ask. I tried running them through my printer but I couldn't get it just the right size

I am probably doing clear address labels when the time comes. I dont care if theyre tacky...the envelope goes in the trash within 30 seconds, so calligraphy would be a whole lot of wasted money and handwriting would be a waste of time and a lot of cramping.

and i dont have a printer at home.

Doing on printer. But I don't think labels are tacky. Most people won't even notice!

Our WPD envelopes are glossy and we had a ton of issues with the ink wearing off the STD envelopes. For the invites we will either use a better printer or we will have them printed professionally.

I was originally going to do clear labels and ended up handwriting instead because the ink smeared or looked blurry on a lot of them. I'm pretty sure WPD had an option for having them print addresses on your envelopes, for a fee of course.

THANK GOD I had a super good friend offer to do this for me. She is getting a hefty gift. Because... my handwriting is... yikes. YIKES. Even FH can't read it!

I thought about taking the envelopes to a printer, but I changed my mind. So I bought a calligraphy pen and am writing them all out. I practiced writing the alphabet first and then did the envelopes. I did however, buy a stamp for the return addresses.

I will be using labels. My handwriting is terrible and most people just toss the envelope anyway.

My mom and I hand addressed mine because of course I chose envelopes that won't run through the printer. So her half is beautiful and my half is sloppy. Oh well.

For my STDs I used a home printer and everything was fine. On my actual invitations Minted does free printing so I utilized there free service.

I asked this same exact question a few weeks ago--my handwriting is atrocious too! I'm using WPD too but I didn't think they have the option to do the preprinted envelopes ( I know Minted does for free) oh and I suck at printer stuff--makes my eyes glaze over.

So I'm stealing someone's suggestion here of printing out the labels out on a sheet of clear stickers. Of course I'm having my super techy friend do it and she gets an enormous bottle of alcohol for it, my profound thanks, and probably a round of cat sitting thrown in for it too.

ETA: she's designing and printing up my programs too. Smiley smile

I'm having Minted print mine. They did my STDs and they looked awesome. I personally don't like labels for wedding invitations, so that was not an option for me.

I am pretty sure I saw on the WPD website that you can pay extra to have them print recipient addresses on your envelopes.

I'm considering handwriting mine when the time comes, but I'm still undecided!

I ordered from WPD, saw nothing about printing addresses, but I'm just going to print directly on the envelopes myself. I tested it, came out pretty well, but we did just go with the non-glossy ecru envelopes, so a home printer works on those. I don't like the look of labels on envelopes but that's just me. We got a STD in the mail with cursive print on a label and it just didn't look nice IMO. I think Kinkos should be able to do it if you don't want to do it at home.

Labels because I have a crazy schedule and I'm lazy. Plus it's going to be tossed in a few seconds anyway. If you're going to side eye me for labels, I'm putting you at the kids table lol

I did mine right through the printer. I forget what size envelopes were but they didn't have the correct one on "pages" that I needed so I just did a custom one. It was super easy.

There are a few shops on Etsy that do calligraphy for $1 an envelope. Not a necessary expense, but if your guest list isn't large it's an easy way to problem solve bad handwriting!

I'm handwriting ours, but nothing fancy because I have no idea how to do calligraphy.

However, I've received invitations with clear printed labels and I never thought twice about it. I don't know why some people are so against labels. Just go for it if you want to.
