A Wedding Registry at Home Depot?

Alexa, on April 8, 2017 at 10:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I heard there was a Home Depot registry but when I went into my local store they told me they did not have it. One of the customer service people said I can open up an account at MyRegistry.com and add items from Home Depot that way. Has anyone else done this? My fiancé really wants to register there.

I'd do Amazon- we actually found some home stuff we want on there (I believe there's a trimmer on our registry now) and it was cheaper than Home Depot or Lowe's. Also Amazon will let you add something to your registry from any website.

Yes I have an account with my registry and I did actually add items from Home Depot. It's great. I was able to add from any store I wanted. The downside tho is if the price changes I have to manually change it, which is really only a problem for stuff off Amazon because they change their prices all the time

The issue with My Registry is that the stuff you put on it redirects people to that specific store and they buy it through there and it doesn't automatically list it as purchased. You have to go in and mark it yourself once you get it, but by that point someone else could have already purchased it for you as well.

We were going to do that but we didn't want to chance getting multiples of the same items and people getting redirected to a bunch of stores.

@FaithD. That's exactly how the amazon registry works as well. Plus, once you get redirected to the secondary site, it doesn't have the couples address saved so you have to know where to send it.

We're doing Zola which is a universal registry and added items from Home Depot.

We no longer shop at Home Depot, because of their involvement in politics.

Do you have a Menards? We really wanted Home Depot too but they said they don't have a set up for that. I felt like Menards was just as good and they have the set up already.

@Mrs. Knolle, that's so weird! I feel like that would just be too much work for guests.

My registry leaves a screen open though that asks did you purchase this so guests know to answer the question bc you can't close the page otherwise without a prompt asking if you're sure

Home Depot is a corporation.. they cannot be 'involved". The owners can be.
