A GoFundMe...REALLY?!

Not related to my wedding, but I saw that a classmate from high school started a GoFundMe for her wedding and is asking for $10k in donations and said "please help us have our dream wedding"...like WHAT?! Am I the only one who thinks this is so crazy!? I didn't even know this was allowed...is it?...

Am I the only one who thinks this is so crazy!? I didn't even know this was allowed...is it?

ETA: the girl who posted has not received any donations as of now. Been up about a week.

    @madelyn d. I'm with ya on those pets pulling on my heartstrings! If I ever win the lottery I'm just gonna scroll down that animal section in gofundme and help out all the puppers!

    @MrsCtobe- I know I have such a soft spot for animals I cannot look away if I can help. I didn't really have the money to donate but I knew that doggy's sweet face being in pain would haunt me....if I won the lottery I'd love to buy a giant place to have hundreds of abandoned pets :'(

    FH and I joke (JOKE!) that we'll make our wedding fund back in wedding gifts but GOSH. I hope these people don't expect wedding gifts on top of donations...

    I knew someone who did a HoneyFund through GoFundMe. I think they maybe got $5 from someone that didn't really want to gift them much. They had this long post about how they were in love and wanted to take a dream vacation to Paris.

    Just putting this out there, Just because someone chooses to have a courthouse wedding or elope doesn't mean they can't afford a lavish wedding. Someone might get offended by some people's comments. Just saying.

    These things drive me crazy! I was reading about one once and joked that I would start one of my own for our wedding. My mom looked at me, horrified, thinking I was serious. She said, "Don't do that! It's not nice!" Haha!
