Sure it is, I would have some sort of memorial though? Maybe a set of bag pipers for 2 minutes of respect, and you can even do Bagpipers down the isle.

My family is a family of firefighters, my FH and myself included, and I am walking down to bagpipes but my wedding is country chic so the whole fire fighter theme is nowhere in my wedding except for the isle, which everyone expects. But you can pull it off since its a special day for you and many lost. Make a bad memory go away with a love story to replace it.

It wouldn't be the first time that date has fallen on a weekend. It'll be fine.

It would be fine to be married on that date. I had the option to use it but we decided it against it b/c of the 9/11 ordeal...only b/c my FH is a Marine and we have a lot of bad memories b/c of that date...we didnt want to have our wedding with any bad memories...

Im getting married 9-10-11 so technically still 9/11 and I think it's fine. We don't have any firefighters, police etc in our family so to us it's just more of a memorial day to remember those lives lost. But it's not a day that we would shy away from because of the date or anything. As long as you and your FH are fine with it then go for it.

Why not? A girlfriend of mine got married on DDay last year and no one thought anything of it!

I think it's fine...and like FMhenry, i have alot of friends and family in the militray...like her i wouldn't choose it for the same reasons, but at the same time, SOMEONE needs to bring some happiness to that date! don't get me wrong, so no one think i'm being unpatriotic...but the whole country needs to move on. it's part of the grieving process...i mean, people get married on d-day, christmas day(a superbly religious day! been around longer than 9/11!), easter day, etc...see where i'm going with this?

It's fine! That was going to be one of my dates.

If it makes you feel better, just write out the date September 11, 2010.

I figure if you didn't personally lose anyone on that date, or any one in your family (there is no PERSONAL sadness connected) GOFOR IT

Your day and your spedning money

We are getting married that day as well. We might put a small line in our bulletin just to pay respects to those affected in the 9/11 attacks.

Our Pastor said the best thing. Do not let them stand in front of your day. We are to celebrate the day of Unity, not of what they did.
