8 days left before my wedding day and the weather does not look promising.

Christina, on July 7, 2012 at 1:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

Really bummed about the forecast for my wedding weekend. Every weather thing says either chance of rain, scattered T- storms or rain in some spots. 30-40% chance of rain. So needless to say I am beyond bummed out and trying not to freak out and cry like a baby.

I know MN weather is crazy and it can all change in these few days but I can't help but be sad that I may not have my outdoor wedding that I have been dreaming of. And instead may be forced to have my wedding in a small room next to our reception hall with possibly no decorations.

No awesome entrance for the groom and no awesome exit for us. No awesome photos outside in the beautiful greenery or in the Model T. Basically if it does rain even though it will be the most special day of my life it will in a way be completely ruined...

Really Really bummed and sad right now.

Anyone else have something they can't control like weather ruin their day?

Send good vibes into the universe! Don't dwell on the worse case scenario. Anticipate a great day. A forecast of 30-40% chance of scattered storms over a week away is a long shot from a sure thing.

Remember- it's good luck for it to rain on your wedding day!

Christina, look on the bright side -- you have a back-up location in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

I've officiated over 1,225 ceremonies, most on the beach, and only about a dozen have been rained out.

No use worrying about the weather -- won't change a thing. Just prepare for rain and hope it doesn't.

You can actually get a ton of neat outdoor shots in the rain...google some ideas just in case! As for the weather..only being a 30-40% chance of rain, I wouldn't worry too much unless that goes up. And lastly, as Shellie mentioned, its good luck for rain on the wedding day!

I have seen some great photos of wedding parties outside on rainy days with cute umbrellas, playing in the rain. Keep in mind that 8 days out is still not a set in stone forecast. Any chance you can get a tent for the ceremony?

A tent would be just as good as doing it inside in the small room. Only problem with doing photos outside in the rain with only an umbrella for protection, my dress would get wet and being a wedding dress can get soaked and stay soaked for a while. So either way it'd have to be somewhere that is covered somehow. If I were to do anything outdoors for photos.

I know it's still far out but with all my emotions and stresses going about me right now it's really hard to not think the worst case scenario atm. :/ Ugh

Have you checked the weather channel lately? Weather.com says that the weather on 7/15 in Duluth, MN will be 70 degrees, partly cloudy, and only a 10% chance of showers. Looks like things are looking up for you! Good luck, and I hope everything is as beautiful as you'd like it to be!

It was perfect 75 degree weather the week before my wedding...and THEN...it started raining... Our wedding was wet. Thankfully, our photographer was still able to get some great pics of all of us outside. The rain stopped at certain points in the day, and we made a run for it to go take advantage of those moments. The nice thing?? The pavement looks all shiny and clean in all of our photos! The lighting was fantastic (no shadows or blinding bright spots in our pics). I cried the morning of the wedding though. But only for a split second. Then I shook it off and decided that I've had some of my best memories in the rain. The weather really doesn't mean anything, unless you let it get to you. Smile your way through, and try to laugh about how silly it is to 'throw a fit' over the rain. :-)

Oh, my bridal party was helping me with my dress too. We walked all over outside, but they picked up my dress so it didn't drag on the ground. We'd gently set it down on the ground for pictures, so it still looked beautiful the rest of the reception. The hem is going to get dirty regardless. Buy a really cute little umbrella, and designate someone to hold it for you...diva-style, lol!! I'll be crossing my fingers for you though, because I know firsthand that all the advice in the world won't make you feel better than a nice clear day. Good luck!

According to weather.com, 'only' a 10% chance of rain for you..means 90% not Smiley smile

It rained every day up to and the morning of my daughter's wedding, but by the time of the ceremony it was clear skies and beautiful, and then started raining again the next morning. don't listen to the weather guys, they never get it right. Even if it does rain, your whole day isn't ruined, just changed. It will be a great day because you will be marrying the man of your dreams, rain or shine.
