7-10-21 wedding so much to do!

Chelsea, on November 18, 2020 at 2:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I feel like I have so much to do but haven't moved haha. All our vendors are booked. What should be on my checklist? What else should I be working on?

My family recently moved away from me and my bridal party hasn't been talking much wedding to me so im not sure what im doing. IDK I feel like I haven't done anything because im stuck on what I should be doing?

-Besides an officiant, I have no one to marry us yet.

-No idea about suits or what for the guys.

-need to paint wood slabs for centerpieces

-need to paint pallets for decor.

- I have talked dates with the girls on bach party and shower and yet nothing is booked or set?! unless my matron of honor is not updating me on it? Shes been busy with work and some health issues so recently we haven't talked wedding.

- still no idea on a wedding favor.

-wedding party gifts, no idea what to do.

- My parents don't understand room blocking and I dont either. We have a bit out of town people who need a room. Should I be working on that now!?

-Should I be working on wedding registry? Like why do I need it now and not till I send out bridal shower invites?

I don't know how to plan a wedding I guess lol.

Hey! You sound like you’re still doing far and July is still so far to go. July 2021 bride here. As far as the room blocks you can call a few nearby hotels and ask them about quotes or policies regarding
Blocks. And then you could compare (or you could have two different hotels).

As far as officiant. Look on here and see if you can find a good one in your area.

Maybe your maid of honor may be trying to surprise you unless she really does have a lot going on right now in that case you may want to ask a friend or someone else in the bridal party to help with that.

For the hotel blocks, Wedding Wire has a room block finder that I found to be helpful! Go to the Menu, then Planning Tools, then Hotel Blocks. I would start looking into setting that up now. Your best bet is to setup a courtesy block - typically, the hotel will hold 10 or so rooms for you until about a month before your wedding. Guests will call in before that deadline to reserve a room in the block (and they would need to mention the room block name at the time of reservation). Any unused rooms by the deadline get released back to the hotel, so you're not responsible for the costs (and guests cover the costs of their own rooms). Often times, a room block is cheaper than guests booking on their own, since hotels sometime give a discount for the block. If all 10 rooms book before the deadline, they'll usually hold another set of 10 rooms (depending on availability) until the deadline.

Looks like you're doing good so far! Especially since you still have time until July! That's good you have all of your vendors hired too. I would for sure use the wedding check list that Wedding Wire provides on here to keep on track!

-For an officiant I would look on this website for some in your area, or Thumbtack is another great website to look for officiants and other vendors you may need.

-For suits for the guys have you checked out Generation Tux or Menguin? These are both great tux rental services and have at home try ons.

-DIYs and painting can be finished periodically throughout the next months. Just set aside some time to do them, and don't wait last minute!

-I would definitely check in with your matron of honor soon to see how they want to plan your bach party and shower! If she's too busy to plan this, then how about your other bridesmaids? Could they help?

-For wedding favors and wedding party gifts, check out etsy or Pinterest to get some good ideas!

-For room blocks, definitely call hotels in your area to get some info on that!

-And for your registry you can start it now or anytime, just keep in mind that items sometimes sell out or become out of stock so I would check on it regularly. I found that Amazon's registry has been the most versatile and easiest to use for me and my guests.

    Good luck to you! 💕

Definitely follow the checklist here on WW or The Knot. They are very helpful.

    - Having an officiant marry you is fine. You don't need anyone else to marry you unless you really want a family member or friend to do it. If you have not already booked an officiant, I would do that ASAP. Many 2020 brides had to reschedule for 2021 so officiants mind be hard to find.

    - I would start looking for suit idea online, at least. I would have them order those around the 3 month mark.

    - As far as all of your DIY, it is never to early to finish that. That way you are not rushing the month or so before your wedding.

    - My bachelorette party was planned 2 months ahead of time. So your bridal party might not be thinking about it this early. I would wait a couple of months.

    - Wedding favors are not required.

    - Absolutely go ahead and set your room block! Like I said above, many brides are rescheduling for 2021 so there might be several other weddings in your area the same weekend. Also, summer might be a heavy travel month in your area. You don't want to miss out on available rooms.

-I would go ahead and start your registry. It does not have to be done right now, but you might be surprised how long it takes to go through and add items. I had a hard time deciding what to put on ours. I started it about 8 months before our wedding and added items as I thought of them. I had it all ready once save the dates were sent.

Lol, hello! You are on the right track, my wedding is a few days before and here are some of the things that I have done:
Booked venue, booked caterer, booked hair and makeup for myself and bridal party, booked photographer and videographer, sent out save the dates, ordered sample invites (ordering from
China to cut the cost), cake tasting (we’re doing it tomorrow), booked florist, bought favors (did a candle from dollar tree, and printed a custom label), ordered day of stationary.
Tasks still pending: Book officiant, purchase my dress (I know which one I’m getting just need to pay for it), flower girl dresses, bridesmaids dresses.
    Hope this helps. Smiley smile

I think you're good on where you are now, I would probably take the time to think about what you should do in regards to what your bridal party is wearing, but I probably wouldn't be worrying about a bridal shower or bachelorette party till three months from your wedding. Remember it's not your job to plan the bridal shower or bachelorette party. As for room blocking, I wouldn't really recommend doing it unless majority of your guests are coming out of town. When it comes to looking for an officiant, I recommend using Thumbtack.

    Hey Chelsea!!

June 2021 bride here! You're ahead of the game! Keep working little by little on things! I would def get working on the suits for the men! That might give you some peace of mind to have that down .

Stay on top of your planning to help you manage stress as you get closer to your big day!
