6Pm start time for Sunday wedding

Leonormorrow, on November 8, 2019 at 6:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Our venue only allows rentals from 5pm-12am and we are booked for a Sunday. We are planning to have a short reception with no dancing, so it should end by 10:00pm. Many guests will be travelling and will have to take off Monday anyway, but I’m worried this is too late for local guests? Most of them will have an hour drive home. Will they have to take off work also or just have a late night?

We attended a Sunday weeding with a late afternoon ceremony. We left after dinner.

Is your wedding venue able to let you set up the night before or a few hours before? You could do a 5:30 Ceremony and then go into the dinner at 6-6:30 depending on the time it takes for pictures. Then you could always end the night by 9:30 so guest can get home at a reasonable time.

My wedding is a intimate dinner with 46 guest. The ceremony is at 5(same location, we got a food and drink package) followed by us taking pictures and guest going to a mini cocktail till 5:30-6. Then from 6-9 we will be having our sit down dinner and playing music off a speaker. We put on the invitations "Intimate Dinner from 6-8:30" so guest wouldn't feel a three hour dinner was too much. But we do plan to still do speeches and the shoe game during the time frame we have at the venue.

I would do my best to start at 5:00 so you will get as much time as possible with your guests before they have to leave.

I am trying to request set up starting at 4 so hopefully they can accommodate that! If not I think most of my local guests would be able to take off so not a huge deal.

I don’t know if we would be able to start at 5, but hopefully 5:30? Do you think it’s worth trying to reschedule to the Friday before? I already have some vendors booked but they may be able to accommodate. Though I also think most guests who are local would be able to stay until 10/take off Monday.

They'll probably have a late night. I went to a wedding this year on a Sunday and it was 1-2 hours away from where I lived. I stayed til the end which was also around 10-1030p and so I was tired for work the next day but that's ok aha

I went to a Sunday wedding that ended at 11 and two Thursdays that ended at 1 AM. I went to all three and stayed until the very end. You supply people with advanced notice. All the people that mean the most will stay until the end!

I think it’s fine.. OOT guests will probably take off money like you said, some in-towners will take off Monday or maybe take a half day Monday, or just suck it up and be tired on Monday. Just prepare that those who can’t take off work or who don’t want to be too exhausted, may leave early. As long as you’re ok with that go for it!

I wouldn’t change your date. Just start as early as you can and people will stay as late as they can.

I’m sure it will, the people who are really important will either take off on Monday or if they can’t, will probably think it’s worth it just to be tired 🤷🏻‍♀️
