60% chance of thunderstorms on my wedding day.

Jennifer, on March 6, 2017 at 8:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

I just have to vent. The ceremony is supposed to be at a country club in a cute gazebo on the side of a lake and the reception will be in the banquet hall right next to the gazebo. Yes, we have a plan B, which would be all the guests sitting at their tables in the reception hall and we'll get married there. The room has lots of windows, so the vies is still nice but it's not at all what I had my heart set on. We were also planning to go out on the golf course prior to the ceremony and take pictures by a really pretty fountain. Now, I have no idea where we'd take pictured. I keep checking the weather forecast to see if it's changing, but so far nothing. I know at the end of the day, we'll still be married and I probably won't even care, but right now I'm panicking over it.

If bad weather is the biggest worry on your wedding day, I think you're good. At least it's not a hurricane or fire like other brides had to deal with.

    STOP LOOKING AT THE WEATHER!

The weather changes every single day, and your wedding is still 5 days away. That could go down to a 0% chance tomorrow. You are just going to worry and stress yourself out about it. At least you have a plan B even though it isn't ideal.

I'm so afraid of this too. We have back up plans as well, but one of the main reasons we chose our venue was because it has amazing views and landscaping for photos. Like you said, at the end of the day you'll be married but I totally get the frustration. Your photographer should be able to get creative with possible rain. I've seen beautiful rainy day photos. Maybe discuss possible indoor solutions for photos now so you aren't scrambling the day of. And maybe you'll get lucky and it won't even be an issue. Good luck!

Don't worry the weather forecast changes a lot over the week, you still have 5 days. Also thunderstorms can be spotty. Clear one minute and raining the next so you might still be able to do your original plan. What area are you in?

Breathe, it's gonna be okay. you have a back up, you're set on everything. You can't change or control the weather, so you've gotta let it go.

They say its good luck if it rains on your wedding day. get a clear umbrella and take some adorable pics outside in the rain. My best friend did, and the one turned out so amazing she blew it up and framed it.

Chances are it won't rain ALL day. You might have a break in the weather before or after to go take pictures.

I'm with APD. The weather forecast changes all the time. Focusing on something you can't change when you're already going to be especially prone to stress is a bad idea. The little details that you do have control over should be your focus. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I hope it stays clear for you. I will say though, I've seen some BEAUTIFUL wedding photos that were taken in the rain. Either way, I'm sure it'll be a beautiful day for you two.

Step away from the weather broadcasts. Don't let it stress you. Weather can change so last minute. If it's just rain you can still get some amazing pictures.

I'm in the Houston area, so weather here changes all the time. I'm trying my best to stay away from the forecast but it's so hard to not look in hopes that it's changed. I love the idea about getting a clear umbrella. If it's going to rain, I might as well make the best of it.

Rain is great for photos; so is overcast weather! Here is my best advice; make a decision and stick to it; don't spend all day on your phone looking at the weather because you won't enjoy the day.

Sometimes here in OK we have a 100% chance of rain and it doesnt rain a single drop. Just breathe, stop looking at the weather, and enjoy your wedding week. Its out of your hands anyway, just know your day will be PERFECT regardless of the weather.

    HAPPY WEDDING WEEK TO YOU!

    This happened to me.

I made the decision to forgo my outside ceremony the Thursday before. I decided to just figure out the optics inside and have them well rehearsed. Also, I was sick of stressing about it and didn't want to wait until the last minute.

In hindsight, I really don't remember what I even envisioned for the outside. The day was perfect and the details don't even come to mind. I remember my H's smile and how happy all my guests were. The food was delicious and the party was bumping.

    Happy wedding week!

I'm with APD - stop checking! The week and days leading up to my wedding predicted something like 70% chance of rain (I was planning on an outdoor ceremony and didn't want to go to plan b inside). Every day the forecast changes - my day was sunny.

Stressing about it will not change it, so stop stressing and relax. Weather changes constantly and you have a plan B.

All will be okay, rain or shine.
