6 hours late taking birth control?!

I normal take my pill around 1 am (I'm bad and stay up late!) but I fell asleep last night and then took it at 7am this morning. I am still on week 1 of this pack. Do I need a backup method? I feel like I just ruined everything with my forgetfulness because tonight is our wedding night and it will...

Do I need a backup method? I feel like I just ruined everything with my forgetfulness because tonight is our wedding night and it will be our first time.

ETA: I'm on Microgetsin (combination pill) and I've only been on it for 3 months.

I'm also worried because I missed a pill completely 2 weeks ago, which early induced my period, which just ended a few days ago. So now I'm really worried I'm not protected.

I would go for a back up method unless you are totally fine with a wedding night baby. Every one is different and just because it worked for someone doesn't mean it will work for you.

I *believe* it's only if you're on a mini pill that it's more important to be at the exact same time every day.

6 hours is nothing. I've missed a day or two and doubled up. I also don't take my pill the same time every day.

As long as you took it, you will be fine! Don't stress it! I hope your wedding day was everything you dreamed it was!

After the wedding you might consider switching to the ring. You replace it monthly. I was on it for years and loved it.

I was an OB/GYN RN so here is my advise. Some women are very sensitive, meaning they must take the pill at the same time every day in order to prevent pregnancy. If you missed it prior, you definitely are at a higher risk of pregnancy. Stay on schedule with a back up form of birth control for 7 days.

Also to everyone...antibiotics interact with the BCP making it ineffective and you are at a greater risk of getting pregnant!

I don't agree with everyone saying you will be fine.... If you do not want to become pregnant I would use back up. The reason for me saying this is because my first pregnancy was because I took a pill late like you and thought nothing of it. Well as it turned out I did become pregnant and it was an ectopic pregnancy which I had to loose. I don't think it has a high probability of happening but there is that chance and if you are not willing to take the chance don't risk it.

Call and speak to your dr. I have actually totally forgotten a pill before and went to take the next day and noticed it before. Called my dr and she just simply told me to take both, never take more than two. But she said it wasn't that serious.

I just started birth control and I have the combination pill. I am so BAD at remember to take medications at a certain time. I have to take thyroid meds so that means taking anything as soon as I wake up is out of the question. I started the birth control at 10:30pm (I stay up late too!) and have been paranoid on what if i take it a few hours late or early. Upon MUCH google research. Again, google, it says that with the combination pill it is okay to take it at different times as long as you take it DAILY. It also said that it says take at the same time everyday to instill the habit. Im a nervous wreck with this stuff so I completely understand!
