5:30pm Ceremony - Afternoon or Evening?

L, on April 10, 2013 at 3:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

And how would you word this on the invitation?

"at half after five in the afternoon"

"at half after five in the evening"

"at five-thirty in the afternoon"

"at five-thirty in the evening"

"at half past five in the afternoon"

"at half past five in the evening."

"at 5:30 in the afternoon"

"at 5:30 in the evening"

Something else? (Summer wedding)

Evening is defined as 6pm to bedtime.

I would say "at five-thirty in the afternoon".

Yeah I think I would consider that "half past five in the afternoon". Or "at five-thirty in the afternoon" if it's more informal.

If you want to go by Emily Post, it would be half after five. It is most definitely in the afternoon, but apparently that is not necessary.

I used afternoon on my invites for my 5 pm ceremony, so I'd say half past five or half past five in the afternoon.
