5 Months Till Wedding

mrsz_mazz, on November 15, 2016 at 8:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

5 months till my wedding and I have extreme anxiety and I have so much to do. Anyone know any methods for calming down? Invited not ordered yet, limo deposit not made, and I am doing my centerpieces and decorating myself and haven't ordered a single thing or bought a single thing to start! Should I start or do I have time. I need to know if I am over reacting.

You have a few months until you'd never to send invites, but I'm looking to get mine soon just to check if my list...but not in a panic state yet! Lol. If your doing all centerpieces on your own I'm thinking starting to buy the necessary items is a good idea depending on the complexity of them and if you have help? Have you hopefully secured all major vendor's at this point? :+)

You have time as long as your big things are booked (venue, photos, DJ, etc). Invites won't need to sent until about February- I'm about to order mine. I've purchased a few things like ring bearer pillow, FG basket (but my FG dropped out...or got dropped by her mom..long story!), toasting flutes, cake server set and card box, guest book. I literally went on the Knot shop and made one big order. It doesn't take long. Make lists of what you'd like and tick off each thing. Congrats!!!

To destress, I take a long bath with lavender bath salt and dr. Teals soothe and sleep body wash. It's so soothing and smells wonderful!! And that's just for normal stress. Lol all these products can be found at walmart. ETA: sometimes I add vicks vapor rub to the water, which helps with clearing your sinuses and opens your pores.

Im with you we also, doing a lot ourselves. Between work, family, and wedding planning. I was getting zero sleep. My mind would not shut off three things really helped me.

1.) Lists. I wrote everything single thing down. I thought it would backfire and stress me out more it didn't. That only made me feel accomplished. I also, love crossing things off.

2.) I talked to fh he has no idea what a wedding involved. So he had no idea how stressed i truly was. He actually took a couple things from my list. But, talking to him helped so much.

    3. Zzz quill non habit sleep aid. When my mind will not shut off and tea or hot bath doesnt help at least i get a good nights sleep. I do not wake up groggy or "hung over". ( not advertising!!!!)

I hope this helps! I know how you feel 5 months but we have thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years within those months. Then its basically wedding time. Lol

    stressful!

@harleybeachbride with holidays approaching I'm in a panic because before I know it it's wedding time and I have so much I am doing just me myself and I with not one bit of help. FH is not much of a planner and has no clue what to do to help even if I explain it to him till I am purple in the face.

@meaghanB I have all vendors secured except transportation invites I am ordering next week but sending them out in January after New Years. I still need to buy items for making my centerpieces and also for FG and RB. I need toasting flutes cake server set card box and guest book I am making myself. But I will try to make that list of things I need. And thank you. Congrats to you as well. We're almost wedding date twins. Lol

@hurricaneK I will try that and see how I feel. I need to go to Walmart anyways. Thank you.

@kayleysue it is a lot. We're getting so close with our wedding and holidays make the months go faster. Ugh. Thanks for the advice. And congratulations!!

I don't think you should be in panic mode at all. As long as you have your major vendors booked or close to having them all booked then you're good. You still have plenty of time to get invites done and printed since they do not need to go out until next year.

My wedding is in March and I am still finalizing the invites and hoping to order in the next few weeks and start addressing them. I have not done my DIY yet but plan to with some of the decorations, guest book, and other signs. I also do not have transportation finalized.

As long as you make your lists of what needs to be done and look at the checklists on Weddingwire that will give you a baseline on where you are and which things to focus on first. Remember as long as you have the ceremony set and the reception with good food and booze it will be a great wedding!

I think you're safe! I would take advantage of the holiday sales that are coming up! You could purchase your invites and decor then Smiley smile

Have a cocktail and remind yourself it's just one day.

    Breathe.

If it makes you feel any better, I have 65 days to go and don't even know what I'm wearing yet!

I was starting to panic until I wrote a list of things that I needed and realized it wasn't that much. I know our wedding day will be here before you know it because of the holiday's. November and December go so fast!

Hang in there, it will work out! Lavender essential oil works for me at bedtime. Because my mind never stops, also doing my FH and I are doing g it all alone financially. (Small wedding but still) lol He is really leaving me to the planning and decorating. Hes just like whatever we need let me know. So try to reassure yourself it'll be ok, and do one thing at a time. Best wishes!
